Greetings,
This thread addresses my Logistic Medic and improvements that I can make in regards to my dropsuit loadout and tactics.
Quite recently, (or perhaps it is my paranoia) snipers have taken a great interest in me and are successfully separating me from my respective squad. My survivability is my burden to bear and before I start barreling down the road of armor plates, I would like to ask the Forums for advice.
1) Should I upgrade my Shields or my Armor? 2) Should I bother working towards the Armor Repair Module? (5HP/S seems a little low for Prototype Tier) 3) What can I do about snipers? (Do not say 'duck' -_- I also do not want to burden my squad) 4) Should I bother with Profile Dampening? 5) Would you kindly offer additional advice?

shields unless you have adv bubbles. If you do, than shields. Did I mention shields?
If you can fit it, sure? Don't sacrifice your equipment or shields.
Run in a zig zag pattern. also, shields.
Yes, makes you less of a priority target. Not your top priority though.
Don't rez people who were just sniped or if there are lots of red dots nearby. unless they are a armor heavy and you have the proto stick.
Get a support weapon.
Type b or vk 1. |

Thanks for the reply; I am ashamed to admit that I have occasionally revived someone who had been sniped and woefully saw their body crumple to the floor again. |

shields, shields and more shields
Nothing higher than basic armor plates.
No ARMOR REP MODULE.
Get to nanocircuitry 4 armor repping hives and combined armor rep/ammo resupply hives that are perfect and way better than armor rep module.
Zig, zag. Come to a stop and change directions on the fly, NEVER JUMP!!
Profile dampening is not worth it. |

You try to avoid them, run in zig zags, run from cover to cover or squad up with a good counter sniper.

Not right now get your basics first weapons,shields,armor and equipment then I would only build up the skills (there are more then one) that reduce your signature and not worry about modules. |

My first suggestion would be, check out Training Grounds... Probably 80% of that section is by, for, and about logis. Also because I, and others, have already answered these exact same questions probably a dozen times a piece already... but I'll make one note on which I strongly disagree with others posting here:
In reference to the armor rep module, the thing to remember is this, the passive effect is constant, meaning that in a 4 second engagement, it effectively can give you 8-12hp more at level 2 or 3. That doesn't seem like much but that can save your life. Another question is whether you expect anyone else to help you with your armor. Not likely... so without a supply depot to re-suit whenever you survive a fight you're gonna be in trouble.
As to the Triage Nanohive, it's nice but will repair your armor before ammunition and a heavy can eat them up like M&M's faster than a newblood grenadier. The only person who should even bother with the Triage Nanohive over the basic Gauged Nanohive is the objective guardian repper logi. I.E. You're going to sit at an objective with an assault and/or heavy, and just repair them while they mow down anyone coming in. It's ammo for them, armor rep backup for yourself and them as well if you're not already on their back with your Triage tool out and shooting magic lightning.
As for everything else I think I agree with most other people thus far... Shield Control 5, Field Mechanics 5 to get those passive bases set up. Shields and a Regulator possibly. Will restore it faster out of combat and you should be avoiding combat as much as possible if you're going full support logi...
Profile Dampening CAN be useful, but there are other far more important skills to get. It's supplemental at best. |

My build is in no way the perfect logi build, but it all depends on your play style.
For high powered mods, I use 2 complex shield extenders and a complex damage modifier. For low powered I sport a militia armour repairer (not that important unless you're running solo and only as a last resort (you should be in cover before your shield drops completely)), basic armour plate (not the militia variant, it's weaker) and I have a slot that is interchangeable between complex shield regulator or a little something something for stamina.
Just lately I've been concentrating on the Gek, triage repair tool and basic nanohives. The injector is a good source of points but I only use it in a squad. Rushing out of your cover to save blue dots fittings will only get you killed. DO NOT RELY ON THE INJECTOR FOR WP.
My build is a good combination of stopping power and support ability and gives me a chance, albeit a small one, to hold my own against the assaults and the heavies.
At the start of every battle I remind myself that I'm playing the support class. I'm in no way supposed to be on the frontlines racking up kills. It may sound stupid, but reminding myself of this has saved my ass numerous times, and the asses of my squad mates.
That said, it's all down to preference. Have a play about with some miltia mods and equipment, find what works for you and then skill into it. All logis look the same, but they all play differently. You're no exception. Take advice from many, and implement it into your own play style. |

- Preferably both; you're probably better off with armor
- YES. 5HP/S is much faster than it sounds, and you want to keep your armor up
- The most you can do is keep to cover, and call the sniper out to your team's countersnipers
- No, you'll be with a squad, so stealth isn't much of an option
- Use grenades with a wide blast radius, such as flux grenades or sleek locus grenades

The logic behind preferring armor- you won't be getting shot as frequently as the rest of your squad (if you play your cards right), so you might as well be as tanky as possible. Most people overlook this: Basic shield extender: +22 shield HP Basic armor plates: +64 armor HP
My main suit (a logi with armor plates, 2 shield extenders, and an armor repairer) can survive 2 shots from a standard sniper rifle. Plenty of time to react and find cover. |

Like McBob I run a logistics suit with a focus first on armor tanking with shield as secondary. You won't be sprinting around the battlefield but its solid and usually the last to die if an objective is overrun. You can survive all but the better snipers that way, giving you a chance to duck behind cover and let that armor repper do its thing.
Use the Type-II or B-Series if running with a fast moving squad or as an infiltrator/hacker. You won't be providing as much logistics support but can at least keep up. Otherwise, Type-I or A-Series and tank it. |

This. Your main objective is to repair, resupply and revive. You can do none of these if you're dead. I hate snipers with a passion, especially when they spend most of their time sniping medics. So to answer your questions...
1. Yes and yes 2. You don't have to spend all your SP on the 5HP/ sec module. These modules stack just like the shield modules. Combining a 3HP and a 2HP is cheaper as well. 3. Not much you can do about snipers other than going up into the hills and putting an entire clip in their face. I would suggest making a counter sniping suit for the sole purpose of taking out those cowards. As said before SERPENTINE like a mo-fo. 4. Profile dampening is really only good for a sniping or scout character. Upgrading your Dropsuit Command to lvl 5 will net you a 25% boost in sneakiness however. 5. You only get one weapon, pick one you're good with and skill it to the max. You can become a pretty effective combat medic once you get to know your weapon. |

Wow, thank you all for the replies.
I have been combing through the Training Grounds but was unsure of whether or not I should post there. Shields are clearly the consensus and I will do all that I can to see it through.
I'm getting more practice at cooking grenades and killing enemies on impact, I've got a new perspective on the Armor Repair Module, and I hope to fare better against the snipers.

Buffer verses Rep. This is starting to sound like an Eve Online discussion.
On my Sever suite I go shield-buffer, armor-rep and cardio. Although considering how ugly some of the urban maps are buffering out with armored plates is looking better and better. My goal is to better organize fits so that the right one can be spawned depending on circumstances.
It's just a cold feeling sitting there with low armor and looking down at your armor-tool, just knowing no one is going to rep you. |
