There are a few major problems:
1. The radar is next to useless Yes yes, I know about the scan resolution & dampening etc etc. Fact of the matter is that if a Heavy can stand behind a Scout without showing up on the radar, you've got a problem with your radar.
2. Audible placement This is the first FPS I've played that WEAPONS don't bring you up on the radar. You've got Bobby Nobody shooting like crazy surrounded by friendly players, but if none of them are looking right at him, he's invisible to the radar. Seriously?
3. Footsteps Now, none of this would be a big problem if it weren't for the fact that audible player footsteps were non-existent. Players can be right next to you, and you'd have no idea simply because the sound design is completely missing. Paired with totally broken grenade sounds/OSD, it's really annoying.
Maybe I'm missing something here, but if you need to train up the skills and run the mods JUST to get basic functionality out of the ******* thing, that just screams "flawed design". We've got these incredible dropsuits in this sci-fi game, yet positional awareness is limited to line-of-sight. Fantastic
May as well remove the radar altogether unless you FIT a precision enhancer. |

Very good points, but to much rage in it. Let me Paraphrase in a less angry Way. 1. The radar doesn't register Enemy standing behind me. If a foe can walk right up to my back, and my radar doesn't register him, there is something not working. 2.When a foe shoots, his scan resolustion should increase significantly. He is emitting alot of energy which the Scanner can pick up. 3.Various sounds do not get softer when you go away, and when a Walking Armor plate walks up behind me, he should me some noise, as dropsuits have to be very heavy. |

We need to realize it is a beta and not blow our tops at every little bug or glitch, but if we coddle the DEVs by repeatedly using 'it is a beta' the wrong way, as a shield to the problems, then we will cripple the game as effectively as a 9mm to the kneecaps.
As for OP, issues are important, they are sensible points, and I support this endeavor. Take a few minutes after a game to collect yourself, ingame posting can lead to hints of anger and trolls will feast on that, killing the point you are trying to make. |

Personally i never use radar, i'm just constantly checking my surroundings visually, but the answer to this is run in a squad. a decent squad will have everyone checking everyone else's blindspot's and calling targets as they appear, although you're right about points 2 and 3 |

A good summation IMO.
Here are my responses
- This is true assuming both dropsuits in question are running no damping mods and that the player sneaking up from behind has not leveled sensor damping/dropsuit command. If the player has in fact invested in lowering their profile then nothing is broken, players who don't wish to have this happen need to invest SP/ISK to counter the advantage gained by the SP/ISK invested by their foes.
- Weapons discharge and sprinting should both cause a temporary increase in profile. The amount of the increase should differ based on the weapon type and all values should be listed openly for every player to see (as well as being present in the fittings window stat block).
- Footstep sounds make sense, but they should be softer (even those of the heavy) than the sounds of weapons fire. Additionally footfall sounds should differ based on dropsuit types (and in some cases sub-types), heavy being the most and scout being the least.

I think heavies should make more noise because they are legitimately heavy. This is just a nerf to armor which is already nerfed. Shield tanking meanwhile has no downsides as of yet. So why not the buzz of shields and the signature that it creates? |

that certainly makes sense... they maybe should make the modules put in/on a drop suit effect the scan profile of the suit..shield extenders/armor plates increase scan profile, dmg mods (weapon not melee) also increase scan profile... hmm what else could increase scan profile... maybe shield regulators and armor reps |

Going by the EVE precedent, only shield extenders increase Scan Profile as a rule, balanced with Armor decreasing speed. I think Microwarp Drives also increased it while active, but I can't be sure on that.
...yeayea, DUST =/= EVE, but someone may as well throw it out there. |

A beta is for people to do post feedback, is it not? That's why it's here. |

I'm gonna have to go with...just about everything. Everything should increases the Scan Profile of the Suit in question. If you increase the PG of your suit, you increase the energy signature and therefore the Scan Profile. Same with CPU.
Nothing in this game should give you anything for free. Armor tanking decreases speed, but makes your footsteps louder on the battlefield. Shield tanking allows you to move faster, but the increase in the energy signature makes you show up on radar at greater distances. Basically it means that neither one can use stealth as an asset. I'm ok with that.
It also means that people would have a reason to skill into things that they might not otherwise consider. Like Profile Dampening, and increased Scan Range. Give us a reason to WANT to skill into things outside of basic combat. |
