But I do agree that the flattening of the gear was not the direction to go in. Players asked that DUST be made flat. THey got their way. Where are they now?
I never wanted a "competitive" world with flat gear progression. But I am still here...
And this is why only 25% of "community feedback" should influence development. Because people leave and tastes change.
None of those guys that whined about dust being "too slow" are here anymore, they all bailed for the next flavour of the month shooter.
Flattening stats was the first nail in the coffin of the "dream" that CCp spoke about in the fanfest.
They need to open the game up with more game types and maps, let the community spread out, so that everyone finds thier place. Rather than lump the rabbits, wolves, dogs, tigers and dragons in the same room together. |

You Know what this thread reminded me of? The REGIS, that was the perfect example of how a developer can burn through a player's patience to the point of saying "know what? **** this, im done." |

Exactly, Regis was someone I disliked for a long time, but slowly, I'm beginning to see his side of the story. |

While I agree that flattening the stats was a bad idea, I have a theory as of why this happened. Proto gear used to insta kill everybody beneath and everybody wanted to run proto, just for the "proto" label, after two weeks of playing Dust. You shouldn't be able to OHK everybody after two weeks in a game like Dust. So they had a decision - give in to the players wanting proto just for proto's sake but make it more even to the newberries and lower tiered players or require more skills/skill points to run proto.
My preffered solution would be to add more skill requirements to run proto, so you'd have to train two or more skill instead of just AR operation, possibly even with a higher multiplier. Although I fear it would result in a "nerf the skill requirements" by some more popular corps ;) Another solution would be to bump the pricing of higher tiered equipment a lot, but it would result in the same QQ threads... |

I could se people like some imps, SyN or hell even ROFL flipping the finger to ccp and call it a day, if enough screwups happen, and they wont come back. |
