We can say beta all we want. Thing is, do you see many of the old players here still?
I get that it's a beta. I of all people, get that.
Yet one has to wonder, seriously, what the f*** is going on? It's been a year now, and yet I've seen some aspects of the game completely deteriorate as CCP destroys them for bland ass mechanics to appease the "casuals" and "newberrys". Tell me honestly players, wasn't the game a whole lot better in gameplay mechanics and otherwise in and before Replication? Sure, needed some balancing, but CCP has this weird thing of taking something, completely destroying it and building back up rather than adapting and evolving.
Dropships still don't have pilot points. Everything has been flattened. There is not enough variety, and the whole aspect of "make a customized dropsuit" is completely gone as people abuse broken (for 4 months) damage mods and mechanics.
This next build will make it or break it for a whole lot of people CCP. Good luck, and remember:
HTFU. You said it yourself.

Would you mind explaining what the original skirmish was like compared to the one we have now? |

I'm still here, and yes while this build, and previous ones have issues, and there is a long way to go before Dust has reached it's potential. I think it will get there, we need to be positive, give good feedback and break everything we can. that's what beta's are for after all |

+1 to guy who gets it . Props to ya, as i know a lot of us here (IMP's) feel the same. The game hasn't slowly gotten worse in many core aspects. We really want it to succeed, yet w/ what is happening it is hard to keep faith. Even though is in "beta", there has been so much promised that hasn't been delivered; that CCP can't expect us to wait much longer. As a community we shouldn't have to wait for piece-meal content at 3-4 month intervals; that doesn't cut.
Like you said, this new "build" either makes it, or this becomes another MAG ... ie: Great concept, yet dev's dropped the ball on it . |

I quit playing during Codex (unless that's this build, in which case I quit playing between Precursor and whatever this build is) for pretty much these reasons. Every build since Precursor has been 1 step forward and 2 or 3 steps back. Precursor brought really cool flight physics, and destroyed tanks and forge guns, while at the same time making Skirmish less interesting, as both teams are now fighting the same battle, and there it takes a lot away from the game.
Really, I think they should scrap most of the changes they've made aside from the Dropship controls, and just go back to the E3 build, at least that was stable. |

Read CSM minutes about Dust. Puts a lot of the ummm... discussion on the forums into perspective. It seems they have already talked through almost everything we have posted about on the forums, and are months ahead of us.
Also, replication was often unplayable. There were many broken exploits then that have been resolved that we seem to have forgotten about.
But I do agree that the flattening of the gear was not the direction to go in. Players asked that DUST be made flat. THey got their way. Where are they now?
I never wanted a "competitive" world with flat gear progression. But I am still here...
*Edit There is a lot of "back in the good ol' days" nostalgia wanking going on and it does seem like players have forgotten a lot of the really ****** things about past builds. There were some good things that have been lost... But there is a whole lot more that I do not miss in any way, shape or form. |

+1 I fully agree with you icy,
Next build is flop point for me.
If its not entertaining enough and fixed back up, I'm done.
I've been here since build 1 day 1(with different name) when dust was a weekend special and the rest of the time the servers were down.
Year later, its the same game just more broken then before.
Everything the devs etc say, soon tm.
So a year isn't soon tm enough? Get with the program before you lose all your old players that were here with you, wanting to play and develop dust since day 1.
I'm seeing a lot more, ccp take feedback and break the mechanic and not so much ccp working along side the community to try and work out an acceptable solution.
EDIT
As a side note, the community can't really help dust with such terrible communication and every time we ask a question it becomes soon tm.
If we need to go back to the NDA so you can tell us what's going on, please do.
I think feedback and community communication is the number 1 downfall in dust.
But maybe soon tm this will be realized. |

Just a heads up to let some of you know that in the feedback and request section of the forums the Devs do put up a weekly post about what the have been discussing. They haven't posted while on vacation but today there is a new post.
Somethings that were brought up: - an idle kick to stop AFK farming - seeing how to implement skirmish 1.0 - DS pilots getting payed And other things it isn't a lot but it is input. |

This is ridiculous.
And is far from satisfactory.
Even eve has more elaborate feedback and in the works.
1 week of dev feedback labeling the minimum they can ie
Working on redline abuse.
Well that's it, will never hear anymore except soon tm.
That's how its been from day 1.
It needs to end.
Look at DS WP's.
That was labeled a bug on one of the first reports when the game launched in closed beta.
Not a single word after that. |

And also let's remember that 90% of the time it's "this will be implemented in the future" or "we're discussing it soon". |

But let's think long-term, as Dust 514 is about. In the past year or so, the game has gotten much less original and pretty much like every other generic shooter. Those are the exact words I here in every preview/review. Wasn't like that a year ago. |

Go read the dev blogs on the mainwebsite.
Read them.
Its like they are talking like this really cool game, intense, deep, persistent.
The game we play is not the game described in the dev blogs.
Yes I know the game "isn't done yet" and "a beta".
But why talk about stuff thats not in the game, like its in the game. The community seems like its really starting to get fatigue from playing the same tired old battles over and over again. Even though we were promised "persistant war on thousands of planets". You can say its thousands of planets, but if its the same 4 maps in the same fish bowl mountain terrain, people are gonna get pissed off.
Vegitation will be nice, but if its still the same maps plus trees. CCP are doing it wrong, very wrong. |

Ok jeez you don't have to bite my head off, just the messenger! No I totally agree that this isn't enough info by a long shot just pointing out that there is minimal feedback to us.
I can't understand why CCP can't be more forth coming about some info.
