I'm leveling into heavy and would like to know how an assault hmg can compete with an mh82 at close range just sitting there exchanging blows......how does this happen.....or how a gek just rips through my 800 HP suit in four or five shots......or for that matter how a militia scrambler pistol one shots that same 800 HP suit......am I missing something because it feels like I can't take HALF the damage assault suits take.....the hmg needs to be almost completely reworked I don't know how I've seen guys in militia gear one or two shot me from across the map..
And to those that say run an assault with a gek and damage mods.....way to exploit a broken mechanic
I want to seriously know so I can correct the problem with my suit setups |

No Gek is ripping through you in 4 or 5 shots. Even a proto suit, with full damage mods would take ten hits to go through a standard heavies armor with field mechanics 5.
Using an assault HMG, if they have skilled into proficiency and are running two damage mods, they will match a shielded up MH82 for damage.
Remember, the heavy is not a solo operator, if you get swarmed, you die. If you get caught out in the open, you die. If you get flanked, you die.
If you get the enemy in front of you, at close range, with good cover, and a logi behind you, the class is OP. |

It certainly feels like some weapons tear through you fast, but the suit is relatively strong until you get past the b series then its worthless.
However what you are noticing is the lack if mobility compared to the other classes. It is something you will learn to adapt to by staying close to objects and not standing in the open.
9/10 times when you feel you die so quickly it is because you are a huge target in radar and in general and more than likely someone else has a bead on you and your are being team fired upon.
Situational awareness is the key to the heavies success, and not crossing streets |

Yes you heard right......4 to 5 shots with a gek one on one......
And due to the hmg low damage the damage mods seemed useless....
The whole class needs work......its not op as is. .its too inconsistent especially at range.......I might saw the guy in front of me up or miss every shot
SIDE QUESTION...what is with me getting tons of hit markers at range but the enemy takes no damage......then he gets gunned down and I don't get the assist......is the lag that bad or is the hit markers bugged |

It may seem like you are getting dropped that quickly, but either you are lagging, or are getting hit by someone else as well.
The HMG does not have low damage. The base HMG puts out 533 DPS. The MH 82 is 560. The Boundless is 580.
The HMG is fine as it is, maybe a heat build up nerf so that I couldn't run a full box through a Boundless without overheating.

Don't use the assault hmg your better off with the mh82 and skilling up heavy sharpshooting. Keep in CQC around buildings and near objectives. Learning where the action is for each map is just as valuable to a heavy as any skill you can buy. As far as suits go shield that seams to be the best choice right now. Another note, save your money you will die but every battle will teach you something new and you will get better. |

If your looking to spend sp, field mechanics, shields, CPU, in that order.
Assuming you have weaponry five already. |

Speaking as a heavy I agree, the Gek tears us apart, peope just aren't listening, I mean I've started using the Gek no and when I see a heavy I tear them apart, not in like 4-5 shots lol but in a very short amount of time. |

Headshot is probably your answer. Any player worth their salt will aim at your heavy big round head. Especially with scramble pistol 450% bonus on headshot or something (yea pistol do have more headshot bonus than other weapon), You will be dropped in seconds. That and the fact that GEK generally eat heavy, headshot or no. With headshot it still won't be 4-5 shots but it certainly feel that fast. Combine with a heavy's turtle moving speed., you better not stay away from cover. |

The biggest issue many Heavy users face is lack of solid aim, or the feeling of unstoppable power and they quit caring where they aim because they went trough a few newberries before reaching a good player.
All of a sudden they are aren't doing any damage aaaand they die....
Its not the HMG, its not the GEK, its you missing 90% of your bullets by shooting right at the point i am no longer at. Put more effort in each of your kills, for me when i meet a heavy with my assault & gek i gotta work my magic and deliver all my bullets in your skullplate while evading your gunfire, while you .....sit back ...relaaaax and press a button and the problem should go away all by itself, most of the time just standing there......not strafing at all....like a blueberry in a fat suit...
Blueberry in small Suit = Score +1 Blueberry in fat suit = Score +1 Awesome player in fat suit = F*ck F*ck SH*T....press X to deploy
PS: did we meet ? Your story sounds like a reversed one i had happen where i teared trough a fat suit multiple times at cqc while not loosing 25% of my shields., or maybe not in that story there where 3 fat suits after me and they all died from plasma poisoning to the head.

We have another one! Give this guys HMG sniper range with MD shots. How about a 5k hp increase? Sound like something you would like? |

Isn't the GEK ROF something like 750 rpm? It fires 12.5 rounds a second. So I can go ahead and assure you your numbers are off in terms of "4 or 5 shots". Even if you mean ".5 seconds" the difference between .5 and .75 seconds is 6 bullets to 9 bullets (with rounding). If your claiming to be counting the sound then I say no, if your claiming to count the time then I say your guestimate isn't good enough. The guys above are using base damage plus relevant modifiers to give you the info they did. That takes precedence over rough numbers you got while angry.
Also heads shots do bonus damage and your slow enough to be an easy target.
Also the range of an assault rifle is longer than your HMG is. The Assault HMG has significantly reduced damage. If you engage at Rifle range they can hit your head accurately. You stop dying from geks when you stop making yourself a target and being in the open and giving them lines of site that you can't efficiently fire back. And if you see someone and shoot back and it turns out their outside your range, congrats you have given them the time required to kill you. |
