Sorry if this has been brought up before or if it is already in game and I just can't find it, but I would like smoke grenades. The thing is there are a lot of long wide open spaces and it's not always practical to wait for a vehicle. It would be nice to just pop some smoke and run across the street without getting sniped. It also would help with reviving fallen comrades and capping objectives. I often find myself debating on whether or not its worth reviving someone as I know they are just going to get sniped as soon as i get them up. Even better, with the delay I often get shot giving him the needle and the sniper has time to kill them again before they can move. Im not saying snipers are op or anything. I'm not complaining about them either. I'm just saying smoke would solve a lot of problems without ruining the sniping mechanics of the game. I would gladly carry a defensive smoke over a locust grenade. Also, please make sure it has some sort of sensor dampening nanites in it or something so people can't see your tag while your in the cloud and pick you off anyway, or make it orange or something I don't know. You know level one 50% dampening up to level 5 with 100% dampening. Im babbling anyway great game so far I'm really enjoying it.

FRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMES. Seriously, you should see how bad the framerate drop gets in Planetside 2 with smoke grenades, and they don't even produce that much smoke. Fog volumes may be fun for gameplay, but they're a major headache when you're trying to keep a steady framerate in your game. |

It leaves a big cloud of smoke after the shots. I stood with this Logi to the death. There were like 7 enemies right outside the door, and I just fired several MD rounds and created a nice smoke cloud. They couldn't see in, we couldn't see out. Unfortunately a shotty got us, but that's beside the point. Mass Drivers leave smoke. |

Yeah, but aren't there 100's of people per map in planetside 2 . This game is slotted for what, 40 something? Also, was planetside 2 developed on the same game engine? As far as i can recall it wasn't but im too lazy too go look it up. So far the maps just look like they are two to three material layers. It looks like just basic terrain editing on the unreal 3, a couple large build brush structures, a few static meshes, and a sky box. There are also very few character models. I don't see a reason why smoke would drastically drop the frame rate. Then again, maybe so as they have yet to implement vegetation and I believe many other terrain changes and graphical improvements path marking ext.Anyway, I don't see why it would be a problem somewhere down the line after they work out some other kinks. |

Also I think people who carried smoke would be minimal as most would rather have frags than pop smoke and help a buddy off the ground. |

I'm talking in general, not just Planetside 2. The reason they used that creative texture for the blowing Dust that ended up getting a memory leak was due to it being too expensive to render that many moving particles. |

Bring on smoke grenades. Much as they are used very little, smoke grenades in BF3 are great, and I never see a problem with frame rate when they're used. I really like the idea of the graduated profile dampening. |
