10 year (at least) life span planned for DUST, at that rate, it HAS to be supported on PS4, otherwise what happens when players start trading in the PS3 for PS4? |

In the meantime, moving Dust to the PS4 "as is" would be useful in that it would allow people who own a PS4 and not a PS3 to play Dust, or continue to keep playing Dust. Dust will need to keep up with the times, as PS3 owners will probably be switching to a PS4 fairly quickly after the PS4 hits the shelves.
I'm not sure I agree that people will be switching over fairly quickly. Both Sony and MS have shown that the more complicated they make the console, the more issues there are in the first year of release. While I think that there will be a large number of sales, I don't think that those sales will be record breaking in the first year.
The economy is still sluggish and the PS is going to have at least a $500 price tag, probably higher since most $500 laptops can't compare with the PS4's hardware. Sony is known for releasing the PS with a high price, not because its not worth it, but because they have to turn a dollar on it. Additionally, we have yet to hear from MS on it's next gen console. I don't expect them to make the same mistake that Sony made 7 years ago with the PS3, so the next Xbox will release this year as well and people are going to be watching. Sony has raised the stakes, but MS still controls the living room.

If ya asked me I think it is a poor choice to ever choose a xbox now don't get me wrong I have one sitting in my room but I think the PS3 was way better than the Xbox 360 I think what got sony was the price but at the same time if ya think about how the xbox 360 was when it first came out they were pretty even in price seeing how you needed all this extra stuff just to get it to do some the things you wanted and then theirs xbox live which I hate I only play the xbox consoles for certain games like halo but I'll always be a FAN of SONY so I disagree that Xbox 360 is in the lead as I don't see a lead really they are about even more than anything from my standpoint view of things :P
I can certainly see your point, but numbers speak volumes:

Also, owing both consoles, I hardly ever play games on my Xbox, I use it more for media purposes more than anything else. Whereas I use my PS3 for gaming. That being said, the reason has always been because MS just had better content over the years as far as movies and music. Sony had always had big games released for download on the same day as the were released in the stores, where MS didn't. MS has now started offering new releases for some games as downloads, while Sony has increased it's movie and music market more over the years. Additionally, if MS has it's way, every internet and cable provider in the country will offer features on Xbox. Verizon and Comcast both do already, not to mention companies such as HBO are climbing on board the MS bandwagon. Sony can't say that. So that leaves Sony in the dust for now, but MS does have a history of putting all it's eggs in one basket while the rest of the industry innovates and leave them behind. |

And the article you linked to was from last freaking year. Here is this year's article. Get with the times. http://www.geekwire.com/2013/official-playstation-atop-console-market/Yeesh.
Perhaps you shoudl read the article...Yeesh. Sony out sold Xbox by 1 million units, by COMBINING total sales of both PS2 and PS3, as did Nintendo. Therefore, since MS sold more units over the holiday season in the US than Sony, it can be safely assumed that worldwide compared straight up, Xbox360 has sold more units than PS3. IN fact in the 5th full paragraph, its clearly states on the basis that Sony combined the numbers of of both PS2 and 3, Xbox wins.
I may have gotten the wrong year, but at least I read what I linked.
