People without predefined squads will be forced into team chat instead of being quarantined to a probably-useless squad chat. It makes it more likely for guys running solo with headsets to be able to communicate with other random people with headsets. They'll be able to co-ordinate better. |

Maybe faster loading time when joining a game. Anyway, in pub games, most people which get auto squaded don't use more tactics as if they were alone, so no point to make grouping. We will get 1 min to group with folk if we really want to, which also show our interest to group up.
I actually think this isn't a bad idea, but I really don't know if it will change anything to loading time, I just hope. Less loading, more gameplay. |

Also hopefully in the future quicker invites allows players to find squad buddies via recently played lists or player boards. |

IMO Any move that reduces teamwork is bad and that's bad way . Blueberries will have no idea that squad orders exist.
Possibility of earning OB in public match just went down ... Even if you create squad no blueberry will join. They cannot even turn voice on.
I would welcome - bigger squads, default chat on, easier squading from player list or chat. From the list of things TBD they find one that no one asked for and might (let me stress - might) have a negative impact on new player experience.

I have come to find out that squad orders oftenly do not get put out because nobody knows they're the squad leader. When they do they're often ignored anyways.
Voice over team however will increase team work. Allows players to call out threats, directions and actions. |

+1 default team chat.
I've found it easier to spot squads with 1 open slot and jump there thus finding myself in a fully mic'ed squad. The singleton squads serve no purpose that I can see other than quicker loads, but people need to jump into squads more to take advantage of SL orders/points.
Learning process and by making everyone alone I think they decreased some of the value and turned public ambush matches into run and gun events with coordinated corps squads making a meatgrinder. |

It's being removed so the server can sort and group players easier and form more competitive matches. I'm looking forward to more balanced battles. |

where does it say this? CCP doesnt mention this anywhere i've looked. all I see is something that reinforces solo play. which is bad for Dust and especially noobs.

At least people in squad leader position will know that they are in it now because they picked it, and will hopefully use squad commands. Anyone that doesn't work as a team will be no worse or better off than they were before. At least now, if someone joins your squad, they should be more likely to follow squad orders. And any game I've started after downtime today has started me in team chat. It's an excellent tweak by CCP. |

Current squad mechanics encourages solo play much more because nobody in squad has mics. |

We need seperate matchmaking in my opinion, Lone Wolf, Squad and Team. So you can team up and go up against another pre-made team or squad up and join a match full of pre-made squads.
Keeps pub stompers away from newberries and gives a more challenging batlle to more experienced players. |

Anything that makes this game more catering to rambos is a bad thing. We have enough blind bluedots in matches as is. Doing as much as possible to encourage team play is a good thing. |

I would just saying I can call out I need 3 AVs where to park and need escorts to take out x player's HAV.
Or call out for snipers to sweep the pipes on that ashlands map, who doenst like free targets? Or warn unattentive players somone is sneaking on them.
The whole team hears my call outs, not my squad, and generally 20-40% team participation helps out very much. Also loved being able to talk to my gunners in a drop ship. |

I don't think it's related to this at all.
We spoke with Nullarbor about this a bit in the past in IRC. It was done for a couple of reasons:
As others have already said, to corral everyone into team chat who didn't join as a squad, instead of having everyone default into their randomized squad chat of 1-4 people and have voice comms massively split up.
Also, it will get rid of the randomness as to who is squad leader, or having that useless squad leader that doesn't know he's it. People who are competent and willing to be squad leader will be able to form their own squad during the lobby, and you could do something as simple as posting in team text chat telling people to join if you're open to randoms hopping in. |

As long as it's easier to set a squad up in the lobby and i dont see 2 corps on the same team, i can say it's a improvement to me. |

This change just made the existing squads so much better, blueberries don't stand a chance now that they can't earn OBs without squading on their own |

I've seen it. At the tail end of a game, but I've seen it.
I think this change is kind of silly. They should have just put team chat on by default and been done with it. This doesn't effect anyone that knows how to play the game, it just furthers hinders those who are still learning. |

1. Most random squads don't earn OB's, and those that do the majority of the time have an SL who doesn't know he got one or doens't know how to call it in anyway. This is a wash - no OB's before, none after.
2. Chat is on by default when you join a match if you have a mic, if memory serves. I could be wrong about this.
3. How does defaulting your comms to team where there are more people reduce teamwork? |

Have you considered the extra stress put on the servers for all those random voice channels? Most of which don't even end up using them. |
