Next step......
There could be a riot like we had in EvE a few years ago....lol....
No but seriously, I can understand the "Core Mechanics" argument. However, CCP DUST should be doing things the way CCP EvE does. Listen, if they want Core Mechanics tested and looked at, it would help if we knew what they view those mechanics to be. At least in EvE we have SiSi to test things on, but since we are in a beta, on a live server that will not result in anymore wipes, which implies "open beta" is actually "Live"; then perhaps CCP DUST should be telling us what they want us to test specifically.
But I can also see the arguments that DUST has been in beta for a year or so now and the current gameplay is repetitive and players are ready to start testing new stuff. Listen, if the testing of core mechanics a few new features is worth a year of testing, then what does that say for other features and how long it will take to test them? One could argue DUST has a ten year plan because thats how long they expect the "open beta" to last.
No player, simply none with a reasonable knowledge of beta testing or people who are looking for a feature rich game would be expecting to still be testing "core mechanics" in an "open beta" I have done beta and on almost every triple A MMO released since 1995 and none have ever gone into beta with "core mechanics" being the focus of the testing. Beta is not for testing "core mechanics" it is for testing new features and TWEAKING core mechanics. Open beta is very much not for testing "core mechanics", open betas happen when there is only a few weeks or perhaps a month of real testing to be gained, with most features being implemented and core mechanics having very few bugs left to them.
CCP is rewriting or attempting to rewrite the book on what a beta and its various incarnations is. Fact is, if we are suppose to be focusing on the core of the game, then we shouldn't be in open beta. Oh and if CCP was so concerned about the core of the game, then why is it that last week or the week before we got new drops to buy in the store, but no word on any new tweaks or changes to the core mechanics? If they don't have time to implement new features and they are worried about the core mechanics, then they certainly don't have time for new stuff to sell. |
