Im getting very tiered of seeing posts like this, i can only imagine how people like CCP Eterne feel when people post this kind of stuff. I think its a very good thing that they are taking the time to fix issues that are present in the game. When other shooters launch they have very few fixes, alot of them dont fix any of the bugs, only release a few maps maybe 1 weapon and MAYBE a new game type. They even launch them before they have fixed alot of the bugs and then rake in the money leaving us with shattered dreams and broken promises.
Long post, so cutting it here When you're doing no more resets you're no longer asking players to test the game but to play the game instead. The game is basically released by now. Slapping a "Open Beta" sign on doesn't make it an open beta.
I had expected this game to have the FPS parts (almost) fully fleshed out by now and be (almost) up to par with other FPS games, like MAG for example. However, in Dust's current state, MAG is just so much better on the FPS parts.
Ambush spawns are just as broken as they've ever been, but how dare I say that, they've only had a whole year to fix them. There have been improvements to hit detection and lag/framerate issues, but they still suffer a lot, especially lag/framerate.
There's so many things wrong with weapons, modules and that stuff. Many of the sidevariants of the weapons are downright useless. I'm talking about the Breach AR which they nerfed into oblivion when it wasn't really THAT overpowered. The Tactical AR they gave so much recoil so nobody is using it. The Assault HMG has a too big damage penalty for the range bonus it has over the regular. The Assault Swarm Launcher, really, who would use that?
The damage mods have been broken for what, three builds now? The Laser Rifle skills are broken, and the Laser Rifle itself needs some work. Missile Turrets were nerfed into oblivion and no one is using them. Higher end Heavy suits are useless. Scout suits need some work. There's no point in using Dropships because you still can't get any WP from flying them.
Onto game modes. We still have only have these two game modes? At this point? All I can say is take a good, hard look at MAG. There's no real command structure. Squadding up is very hard and clunky, and communications between the entire team is not good enough (voice chat is still off by default for example).
As I said, I had expected most or all of this to be somewhat working at this point. If that was the case they could focus on expanding the EVE stuff while still improving these things and also pushing out new stuff such as racial suits and other vehicles for examples. Now they still have to have a major focus on pretty much everything.
If you showed people what progress there has been from the start of the closed beta till now, they would say that process would have taken what, 3-4 months at most probably, and not a year+. |
