quit dust now.
Im getting very tiered of seeing posts like this, i can only imagine how people like CCP Eterne feel when people post this kind of stuff. I think its a very good thing that they are taking the time to fix issues that are present in the game. When other shooters launch they have very few fixes, alot of them dont fix any of the bugs, only release a few maps maybe 1 weapon and MAYBE a new game type. They even launch them before they have fixed alot of the bugs and then rake in the money leaving us with shattered dreams and broken promises.
Now, a company called CCP is taking its time and really making a game and thinking through step by step to try and avoid those broken promises. Further more they made it a free to play game.....Not only that but they love hearing peoples ideas and want to use player driven ideas on this very forum to make this game the best game ever. And what do you do? "CCP hurry up ive waited like a whole year while your testing this game and you havent given me exactly what i want WWAAAHHHh" "I played COD so i know when you should have all of this stuff out!" "CCP why are you taking time to make this game good?! I WANT IT NOW" "Pub games suck so give us some like planet warefare stuff NOW" "CCP you said we would have all this but ive been waiting for a year now and i feel ENTITLED to have all of it NOW!" "Ive been following this game for a year so you have to listen to me cause I am entitled to this FREE TO PLAY GAME cause im a "veteran" and that makes me more important."
You sir are the reason we cant have nice things.
All you do is whine and complain when they are trying to test this game and build on a good base before moving on to even more challenging things. DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT BETA MEANS FUKTARD?! It means they are TESTING THE GAME! it means they want to work out the kinks before they launch the game. We as beta players have a responsiblity to the dev's, CCP, and ourselves to give FEEDBACK and help them to work out problems because they are STILL TESTING THE GAME. We are suppose to be helping but instead CCP Eterne had to take time out of his day to tell you what you should already know! If you cant handle a little waiting for them to do their job, which is making very complex player driven games with stories to tell from every player, then please PLEASE go back to other shooters, your wasting CCP's time with these useless rants about NOTHING not one little bit of helpful feedback, your wasting my time, and your wasting time for people on the forums to give good intelligent feedback. so please if your not gonna HTFU then GTFO
yeah, great advice. Everyone who sees what a broken piece of **** this beta currently is, and how little progress they've made in a year vs. how much they've promised, should just go play other games... Unfortunately, that would mean you'd be left with no one playing this game. Truth is, by the time they are done getting this game ready, they are going to have to dig themselves out of the grave they've already dug. Gamers, especially FPS gamers, have short attention spans, and there are many other games to play.
Why they decided to go open beta in this awful state and give the larger gaming community such a terrible first impression is absolutely beyond me, but they are running out of time to deliver something compelling before most people decide that CCP can't be trusted and become the new Peter Molyneux. |

While Mavado does tend to complain, even if he's not eloquent about it, his complaints nearly always have merit.
Your post in the last page suggests Mavado is looking for instant gratification, and expects CCP to serve his every whim. This is untrue. Mavado is expressing his (rightful) distaste at the utter lack of progress and direction in a beta that has been running since December 2012.
I would be among the first to defend CCP if someone is complaining for the sake of it or their complaint has no merit, and try to help them see reason. But this is not one of those times. We're at a point in the beta where if people don't call CCP on their ****, nothing is going to change and that's going to be bad for Dust as a whole.
Assuming anyone displeased with the current state of the beta is 'self entitled' is horribly ignorant and incorrect. There is a massive difference between being able to look at the game objectively, and making entitled suggestions, and just being a fanboy unable to actually criticize. So, might I kindly suggest you take your smug, self-superior assumptions about others elsewhere, and actually take a good long hard look at the game?
Do you know what we had last December (2012)?
A better version of Skirmish (Dubbed Skirmish 1.0, think of it like rush in battlefield but at the end is the hacking objectives we have now) Two less guns, slightly different dropship controls, no mouse/keyboard or move support, 6 or so less module variants, and two less maps.
I don't care who you are. You honestly cannot tell me that what we have now is reasonable progress for more than an entire year of work. Mavado is entirely justified in his sentiments in the OP.
I believe you mean December 2011. I've been here almost a year, and what you describe is from WAY before December 2012. |

Rachoi wrote: roo.. you are one of the whiners.
yes, its a Beta, so its going to have broken things, would you kindly not be upset with the fact its still a beta?
No, I will not. The problem is that players are losing faith in CCP and their ability to follow through with what they are promising. I get that it's still a beta, i even believe "beta" in and of itself is a reasonable response to SOME complaints. However, the game has been released to everyone and there are no more skill resets. For all intents an purposes, whether they like it or not, the game will be viewed by most as "the game" at this point. We can go back and forth all day over how right or wrong such judgements are, but it doesn't change the reality of the sitaution.
Furthermore, the absolutely TINY amount of progress that they've made in the year, while simultaneously promising more and more and more and more and more content without delivering almost ANY of it is troublesome. You can only cry wolf for so long before people stop believing you.
Rachoi wrote: yes, many FPS shooters are kids with ADHD and no attention span, so we should probably let CCP just work and help them with feedback and bug notices, or it wont ever get fixed, do you get me?
And the basic thrust in this thread is that most of the people who have actually been here for a substantial period of time are losing faith that it will every GET fixed. That's not to say that it won't, but it's a call out to CCP to get their **** together and start MANAGING EXPECTATIONS better. Their communication is so poor, it's impossible to figure out if we will be getting proper FW next week, or in 3 years. All CCP seems to do is talk endlessly about what they WISH this game they were building actually was, and then saying "SOON". Well, if they don't start telling folks what definitively will be in the game, and at least a rough time schedule of WHEN those things will be there, people are just going to stop believing that we will ever see those things at all.
I used to be like you, I used to make the arguments you are making, then another 6 months had passed, there were more promises than ever, and almost no more content than we had 6 months prior. The whole point here is that CCP needs to either start delivering, or stop making promises that they don't, can't, won't keep.
Rachoi wrote: if we all just keep bitching and whining and not being helpful, then there will be no progress, since the Devs have to dig through the whining to find productivity. i say, we stop playing the whining game, and help out CCP by giving decent feedback and less of this arguing
I say, go ahead and continue wasting your breath. I'd rather call'em like I see'em, and what I see is a company that is in WAY over it's head but continues on ahead as if their product is an entirely different one than what they are actually presenting to the public. That doesn't mean that's what is actually happening, but IMO that is the perception that they are giving off to the gaming world, and if they don't get it under control they are gonna be ****** before they ever "release" the game (ie: remove the "beta" tag from the title screen). |

Mithridates VI wrote:The "is it a beta or is it not a beta" is a matter of semantics, which seems to be getting a lot of people bent out of shape. When a word means different things to various parties in a conversation, the way rational people communicate is to define their terms so the conversation is being had in the same language.
If some people think that "open beta" forbids the testing of core mechanics, while others do not, we're speaking different languages.
Let's taboo the word "beta" and it's synonyms and work with a different definition of this pre-release gameplay.
Is there anywhere that CCP has given us a description of what their intent with the open beta is or do we need to request this definition so people can stop raging about the game not meeting standards which may be based on a miscommunication.
We've been requesting this definition for the better part of the year. That's the whole point. They (CCP) just constantly speculate and daydream out loud about what Dust 514 is going to be "SOON" but we never see any of it materialize. Well, at best we see a TINY portion of it materialize. It just seems their vision just keeps outpacing their ability to implement, and thus the gap between reality and vision just gets wider wider every time they give an interview. |
