What are your thoughts on having ammo types with more significant effects (at least in appearance, if only somewhat mechanically) than merely -range + damage same effect?
Such as:
Mechanic: Shotgun slugs Effect: + range -spread - damage Ingame: Utilizing elements of blaster technology of turrets fitted on ships, energy is encapsulated in a thin membrane of plasma before being ejected, inceasing the effective range of shotguns. Though the plasmatic membrane is short lived and the charge will quickly destabilize followed by harmless dissipation
Mechanic: Mass driver fleechets Effect + damage + speed of travel - AoE Ingame: Replacing the explosive payload with a directional fleechet system, this round type features a smart detonator that will activate the moment before it hits a soft target. Useful against infantry and lightly armored vehicles, the round will still detonate upon contacting a surface, though fleechets require volume to be effective and will cause minimal damage.
Mechanic: Burst fire for Laser Effect: +Heat build <50% -heat build >80% Ingame:By modifying the focal lens and energy emission system, efficiency is greatly increased to the point of maximum power to minimum heat buildip. Though the FCS forces the user to fire in short bursts to prevent overloading the newly tweaked sysems. |

I dont see the point in this when we already have weapons, or will have weapons that can do these things.
Shot gun slugs = breach shot gun. More range, more power, slower rate of fire, less ammo.
Mass driver one? what exactly is the point? the mass driver can already tear up infantry, and light vehicles. Seems kind of redundant.
The burst laser rifle? CCP is going to be adding in more laser rifles at some point, one of which will probably be a burst/ breach laser rifle. So again, this is redundant. |

You can have anti-matter on railguns or lead on blasters in eve. Same concept here, it's just a way to further tweak a weapon to your playstyle. Calling it redundant is tantamount to"We will have caldari suits with + shielding so shield boosters are redundant" |

Why not just use Eve's system that already works? Here are all the different laser crystals for example. |

That's the idea, albiet perhaps with slightly fewer options and a bit more "flavor" in regards to their fluff and effects. |
