The Dust economy needs more work before that happens. CCP is trying to be careful because once the Dust economy connects to the Eve economy there will be fluctuations in the market and they are trying to avoid any adverse effects. |

Never going to happen. CCP will link both Eve and Dust economies together and the New Eden market has no limit on the volume of commodities bought and sold between players. It's been like this for 10 years already and so far New Eden has prospered. |

Another thing you have to remember that when you sell items to another player (once the market is fully operational) you are selling them at a price they are willing to pay based on the real-world law of supply and demand.
If the supply is low and demand is high, the price of a commodity will increase accordingly.
If the supply is high and demand is low, the price of a commodity will decrease accordingly.
If you try to sell an item on the market for 10,000,000 ISK when it's worth only 10,000 ISK, you will never find a customer who will buy it unless they are idiots. Also, there will be others who will undercut you by selling a similar item for 9,999 ISK in an effort to take away your customers.
The same goes with placing a buy order. Most of the time, players will fire sell their stock of unwanted items which is what savvy buyers are looking for because the sellers are giving away the items at a price that is less then what their worth. Once the items have been bought, the buyer then becomes the seller by selling the same time on the same market but at a marked up price and thus profit from the difference in cost and revenue. |

It's been like this for 10 years already and so far New Eden has prospered. 1) Dust is a different game 2) people already amass tons of ISK already, 3, if we get one on one, people can just give people Aur guns for minimial profit, making the game highly unbalanced and unfair. Not that its not super hard for someone stepping in to play, but I am not one of those people ^-^
1. You are right. Dust is a different game. But the market will not be different as CCP clearly stated in various interviews with gaming companies like Eurogamer, Ten Ton Hammer, and the Playstation Blogs, that the market in Dust will be virtually player-controlled with little to almost no interference from CCP. Get ready to be scammed... a lot.
2. Doesn't matter. In Eve Online, there are players who amassed billions of ISK but tend to struggle with certain payments like corporate/alliance upkeep cost, production cost, market cost, ship replacements and reimbursements, logistical cost, etc. You'd be surprised how much ISK players spend to earn ISK.
Also, what kind of moron will give an AUR item to a complete stranger for minimal profit? Unless those two individuals have a deal going on behind closed doors, that will never happen. It's like spending $15 to buy PLEX from CCP only to sell it in the market for 100,000,000 ISK. Dumb idea. A stranger will always want to rip off another stranger for maximum profit. It's in our nature as humans. |

@DarkShadowFox
You will do it. You spent real-world cash to get that AUR item. You will want to get the most out of it. And when someone does buy that item from you at such a stupidly generous price, do you think they will use that item in battle? No! They will turn around and sell it at a huge mark up if they can to rip off someone.
EDIT:
You are also allowing yourself to be ripped off because you are not getting your ISK worth when you short sell. |
