you hit the nail on the head some where in there, in CCPs push to speed the pace of combat its turned into who can out mob the other team, for both skirmish and ambush, tactics be damned. Admittedly the more frequent use of drop uplinks have changed the game a little, but I would like to see the return of the spread out five point maps, skirmish1.0, and even the E3 skirmish.
Still more game modes need to be pushed, and ccp has to stop pushing constant large scale fights and focus on incentivising many smaller fights in a row with the occasional bottle neck into large scale combat, return rewards for damage done(ie return the wp for damaging and reduce the kill bonus on hardened targets just add a timer and diminishing returns on a single target to prevent farming),
in short return a sense of progress to the game instead of massive spamming. right now you just rush the field until you red line some one, in E3 skirmish you had to fight from a disadvantage to victory and this lead to a lot of taking time for less blunt force stratagy and more thrust parry riposte tactics that made the game so much more interesting, all of this culminating in the big push toward the end to ensure the survival of your MCC. In skirm1.0 you again fought from your back and had to out maneuver and out position your opponents, in a map that was little bigger then the cities we fight in now(read more effective use of space), with a false climax at the last tower and another build up and climax as you push into the city on the second part of the map.
the instant ramp up of the current maps just feels like a slug fest that if you are not actively part of you are losing for your team. All the vaunted tactics in this game just serve to feed into that pointless slug fest and add no real substance to the game other then a momentary distraction.
now I know some of you are going to say that I am looking at the past with rose colored glasses, I remember the countless and endless redlines, but that isn't what I am QQing about, I want a game that is more then just a stomp, more then just a FPS quicky.
What I want is a match that has some substance and tactics to it, and while like now I enjoy the occasional ambush, I will always enjoy the occasional skirmish as it is now. but what I really want is some more dynamic battle fields that require multiple concurrent tactics with many fights and not just one mob.
.....and some other stuff one day ill put together that list Ive been meaning to make |
