Sounds like it. But what new game can compete with such fantastic new content like retooled supply depos??......sarcasm. Dust 514 needs a growing userbase and not just a few diehards that will shoot the same few folks over and over.
And then Defiance launches and some of those folks migrate to another shooter. They then still remember Dust 514 but are happy playing a new game with new content and just decide to re-try the Dust beta sometime later but then other games launch and the gamers again postpone going back in favor of the newer games.
I still have faith in Dust 514 but its been October, November, December, January, Februrary, a good part of March and nothing, nothing and nothing??? of the promised content updates??

If you want something interesting and challenging to do, go drop-shipping.
Nope. The MCC Cestus costs 120 Million ISK for the base model.
And YOU may be ISK poor but some folks run militia/starter/basic and do collect ISK so to the question of if there were a way to purchase a Cestus MCC and give it a custom pirate paint job and call it the Black Pearl then why not??
Then with my purchased MCC and my pirate crew we can respond to a Corporate Contract Challenge with the words:
We ready. Bring it *****.

I was estimating after the new shift of focus of bringing more of the cost to the hulls and less on the modules. As for updates I have a few. Manus Peak Ambush (non OMS) now has the southern complexes expanded out of the red zone so you can fight down there on the bottom of the hill. Next Game Development Blog is on Thursday it will cover the FW blog.
Thanks but I knew about the map size usable area expansion since more than a few days ago and less than two months ago. The Game Development Blog will be interesting....to some.
The games main problem is lack of actual new content. I hope that this will be fixed as was stated before.
The main problem is there are hardware roadblocks in the actual platform. This will be solved in November with a better target platform.
I still have faith in CCP but there is nothing new to test so its becomeing pointless as far as an open beta as the days go on. Unless the test is how long can a game go without new content?? |

One large problem is that instead of dealing with the load balanceing in May they instead opted to cut player counts by 50% from what was then being used.
They have had June, July, August, September, October, November, December, January, Februrary and a good part of March with this issue still unresolved.
2007 MAG had 128 versus 128 player counts versus Dusts 16 and 16 in 2013. Developer tools have evolved in the years since 2007.

Developer tools have evolved in the years since 2007. MAG also had a less capable game engine with less detail on almost every level compared with what Unreal Engine can manage. Maybe point to an Unreal Engine game on console with a higher player count than DUST, or a game with similar to EU level of graphics and other capabilities with higher player counts than DUST has at present. And yes, there ARE games with higher player counts on console than what DUST is currently demonstrating, but as with many things, larger player counts are in the works.
The computers used in 2007 to run the source code for a game and do the final load balancing are in no way ,shape or form comparable to the computers of 2013 that run the source code and do the final load balancing.
A better source code equals a better running game. Better and more capable computers in turn create better games up to a point.
The fast way of creating a better game is a better and more capable target platform. The problem is not what is being worked on but instead what actually comes out of the work pipeline ready and stable. |

Panther Alpha wrote:BASSMEANT wrote:the problem with a tv show and video game is that once the tv show dies the game is left in sorta limbo as to what to do.
the tv show is gonna be a hard sell because the budget has to be pretty high for a show like that. not sure how the ad revenue will prop it up in the long run.
it could go well if they cater to the lil narcicissists and start to work the lil codbois player names into the storyline on the show but that will only last for so long.
really it's the PS4 and GTAV. those are the 2 big swords over the heads of the devs.
the PS4 is gonna drag most of the older players away. they have the loot for it. same way it was on ps3. first few months were mostly childfree. depends on what the game count is at release but most of your "hardcore" older gamers are outtttta here at ps4 release.
gtav is gonna smash records. prolly will come up a lil short in the "wow!" dept. but it's still gonna rock. rockstar never ever f's up a game. ever. it's gonna drag most of the player base away for a while and if the mp is deep enough, you can kiss a good chunk of it goodbye for long enough to call it "for good".
they have the summer to get this game together before it spins into the "screw it, just slap a codthing together and release it. it's good enough" catagory.
Peace B No no no.... you have the full thing outside down.... Hardcore gamer's will keep their PS3 for YEARS to come... Hell, i still have my Atari console hanging around some where. The PS4 will appeal to kids, that haven't seen a "new" console in their life time. And they going to get all exited about something ,that hardcore older gamer's have seen for YEARS.
This "kid" born in 1961 learned that the best deal is sell the yearold console and buy a new one. As far as games go give me a new Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Borderlands, Farcry, etc. |
