Errmm if 2 Mimitia Fit guys can tear into you, its not the suit its the player also the suit should not be such an advantage that it plays itself.
I wouldn't say it's an advantage so much as a "shoot me, I can't strafe fore for sh*t" sign. They're like tanks... except less tanky. Skilled Assault users can dodge most things. A Heavy doesn't have much choice but to soak up damage, unless they have a lot of cover available of course. I don't even bother bringing them out into wide open maps, between the AR's, Lasers, and snipers, there's just no profit. Now maps where I can force CQC on the other-hand... OP, you're supposed to earn money based on the value of the other teams gear that's been destroyed... but since everyone just runs militia and level 1 stuff.... Eventually the pay grade should improve as people start using better gear, but who knows how long that will take.
No but the Op was saying how bad it was that 2 people in militia fits can tear it up, if the player is bad, the suit should not make up for it, the most skill that usually accompanies a heavy suit wearer is move forward and press button oh and throw panic nades when he is about to die in hopes you run away by random nade thats gonna explode in 3-4 seconds.
95% of all Heavy's are awareness deprived players looking for more Health to boost their survival so they have time to react to an incoming attack and if the attacker has the same level of skill still take him out, if the attacker has more skill -> then step 2: Whine about it on the forums.
If you cannot make money with your current fit setup, then your skill level is not up to the equipment level, it's like learning how to drive with a souped up 500 HP car, its not going to end pretty. |

Also I learned that apparently a lot of people are cool with you just logging in to a match and sitting in the MCC or down on the ground in the redline. You get about 100k isk if you win and don't have to risk anything. Free money and SP! |

We currently dont have many match options, but i dont think ccp are expecting people to throw full Proto fits at Pub games, the pub games will be the lowest teir/lowest payout type of battle, a training ground for new player so to speak.
FW battles will most likely pay out more, and i believe the thinking is once linked fully with eve and if and when Dust battles on planets affect an Eve corps ISK supply you will find battles offering rewards of probably 100mil or more so losing 10 proto fits would maybe still net you a profit.
Ofcourse your supposed to lose money running high end gear in a low end match if you die.
PS ignore those that claim to use high end fits and have Eleventy Billion ISK, those guys are cheats and exploiters, they never lose a high end fit because its hard to die in the MCC Its them thats doing it wrong not you. They just believe people should be super cool and exploit like them and if they dont agree its there own fault for being terrabad because playing a game is all about ISK and SP and nobody wants fun anymore. As you can tell they are very warped people mentaly so best to avoid them. |

The point of having an expensive suit is to be able to stand up to more powerful players in a skirmish match. They are not meant to be needlessly wasted match after match after match unless your corp reimburses you for your loss. Eve Online has a similar concept in which players don't always bring out their Battleships or Dreadnaughts unless either A) they know they are going to be reimbursed by the corp or alliance or B) they have more than enough ISK squirreled away to cover their loss. This is why you often see even the most experienced players bring out their cheap fittings while saving their most expensive fits for very special occasions. |

Eventually Officer level gear in all slots will be available and will be the cream of the crop modules, suits and weapons.
They're like things you only pull out for special occasions... namely Alliance Tournaments.
And your alliance will be saving the entire year to make sure you have enough copies to last the entire tournament. |

I have three heavy fittings. One with a prototype forge gun that runs 100K. Another with moderate gear that runs 50K. And one more that's entirely militia gear except for the forge gun.
A lot of thought has gone into these fittings, and a I'll be spending far more time tinkering with them still. My basic principles are as follows:
1. Use the right tool for the right job. 2. Don't go broke.
That prototype forge gun is powerful, but unless I have a really good situation with strong group support for using it, that extra 50K makes absolutely no beneficial difference on the battlefield.
Meanwhile, my militia suit is fleshed out exactly like my moderate gear... the point is, when I'm using it, I'm learning how to be more effective. If I find myself dying for the wrong reasons, it's time to buckle down and learn the hard way-- drop with the militia gear and grit my teeth.
A powerful fitting can pull a lot of weight, but you better be ready to really learn how to use it. |

Ultimate Heavy wrote:Altina McAlterson wrote:HowDidThatTaste wrote:Ultimate Heavy wrote:I have one more question. Would it be worth it to invest in my shields because for a heavy it looks like a lot of sp to invest in order to get shield enhancers Definetly work on getting the +5 % to level four increasing your type 2 heavy is worth it! Also field mechanics to 5. Yea, it's worth it. Shields on a heavy are crucial unless the enemy wants to wait a minute and half between engagements. Even just to level III would make a huge difference. What skills are you talking about exactly because when I go to market and look at shield modules I have a ton of prerequisites to fill
Yeah, there's 3 prerequisites you have to skill up in, in order to gain access to shield enhancements. It's up to you if you want to use the skill points in shields. Personally, I think it's worth it. |
