I've been playing Dust since August on a 20" CRT TV, and I think I'm pretty decent skill wise. I just recently bought a 42" LED TV and my gameplay is atrocious when I'm playing on it. But if I go back to my 20", I'm back playing good again. I don't know why its affecting me.
Anyone else run into this, and if so any solutions? Could it be the size of the TV affecting my play, meaning I should go for maybe a 22-24" LCD monitor? |

Yeah, I'm running it w/ HDMI...the problem is the game seems a lot more "jerkier" when playing on the HDTV. When I'm playing, the TV is in Game mode to make it as lagless as possible, and I've tried different resolutions but no dice. |

Thanks for the responses. I'm going to mess around with it a little more. Like most of your are saying, I probably just have to get use to it. |

Ok...I was thinking it may have something to do with the size. |

I strongly suggest changing a few video settings and seeing if it helps. HDMI might even be a problem.
I haven't notice any difference in any other games I play. I play a lot of fighters which, those of you know, are frame-specific games. And there's no drop off in my play with those games. But yeah, I'll continue to mess around with the settings, and may try using composite instead of the hdmi. |

what is the on-screen-delay (or whatever that's called)?
If it's over 5ms the tv is poor for fps games.
5ms or under is what you want. My monitors are 2ms.
Ok...yeah this TV has a 6.5ms response time. Oh well, guess I'll be looking in to getting a monitor if I can't improve on this TV. |

I was told to reduce the sharpness, and it does seem a little bit better.
Edit: Actually after looking at the Game mode, a lot of the advanced stuff was still set to on. I've turned those off as well and there is an improvement. I played a game, still not as good as I was on the CRT, but a helluva lot better than my previous games on the HDTV.
I think I may just try to find a LCD monitor like I had back in the day. I believe it had a 2ms response time. |
