Ok so heres the thing, i know a lot of people spent money on this game and i will soon as well (Mercenary pack) But i'm just gonna say u dont have too spend ur money. I do just fine without spending money to play this game usually 1st 2nd or 3rd on my team. But i do see an advantage to spending ur money and thats why i'm doing it. I want a skill booster and some Aurum to enhance my playing of this game. Its not pay to win thats for sure but it is pay for a slight advantage which is fine. So basically to sum it up u dont need to buy anything with real money to succeed Whats your thoughts on the matter? -N1ck |

I use Aurum to buy BPOs. Having the Sever Logistics Type-I as my 'cheap' suit is a nice thing.
My primary suit is an A-Series paid for 100% with ISK. For messing around in ambushes or if the fight turns to crap I switch back to BPO suits.
Other than paying for boosters my Aurum goes into buying weapons for my secondary roles, which I haven't spent much SP on yet. For example, I use an Aurum swarm launcher since I've only gotten around to training level 1 in that skill. |

someone made a thread before saying this game was indeed not pay to win, but instead he thought it was "play to be competitive" and to some extent it is. I mean im pretty sure that people who have played every day with full boosters should almost be a million sp ahead of those who haven't had any boosters. Not to mention the advantages isk wise AUR can give you.
i have a raven assault type I, and on it i have so many BPO's, that the suit only costs 5k isk and has 450 HP exactly. The only thing that costs any money is my av nades, and basic armor plate. This gives me a sever isk and hp advantage over most newer players. Granted they can use the free suits but those are more or less terrible. |

Dust is "pay to avoid the grind".
You have two options...
a) grind matches, giving you for SP for better skills and ISK b) buy Aurum, allowing you to buy items that require less skills
Both will get you to the same place.
Paying real money to avoid that grind is a perfectly reasonable thing to do; this is supposed to be entertainment after all. However, it is fantastic that the game gives us the option to play completely free, if we are willing to do the grind. |

You have to use a UVT for Corp voice.
When people first started complaining about this, there was a large outcry about how "every other game" has this feature for free. I pretty solidly shot that part of the argument down, but there's a totally separate - and actually legitimate - argument that expecting every individual within a corp to pay for their own UVTs is pretty silly. They really need to implement changes to the UVT system, or introduce the player marketplace (or at least an ability to trade items between Corp members) sooner rather than later. It probably would have been better to have some of these functions in place before they fixed the "problem" of Corp voice being available for free when that hadn't been intended. |

i pretty much did the same thing. i hardly ever use my more expensive fittings because if i die more than 7 times in a match wearing them, i'm basically losing isk. plus i have more isk to play around with vehicle fitting. |

The double dipping on boosters is a bit tasteless, but outside of that I'm pretty OK with the payment model. Dropping guys that are using space-gold guns just makes it that much more satisfying. |

i spend my money because i believe in this idea that ccp is creating for dust and want it to succeed, especially if it will push other devs to try new things with their games. thats my reason. |

I spend on boosters and I've bought some cheap BPOs so I can bring down my (standard) suit costs.
Other than that I'm so willing to grind that I'll hammer away at 1K games to see if I can't upgrade one more skill before the weekly CAP reset. |

Boosters = ADVANTAGE.
ADVANTAGE= slightly higher chance of winning.
Winning = more SP
More SP = Advantage
I get boosters for the advantage. and to stay up in a fight. Like Now. Not in 6 months when I "even" out with every one. |

There are BPO's for Drop suits and some mods and a couple weapon ones. they can be found in the market they have a blue color to them.
Suits you can buy are
Raven Assault suit
Valor scout suit
Sever Logi suit
these are around 19K AUR. (a lot of closed "Vets" got them "free" with a Merc pack last summer)
there are weapons like the Exile which were given out as a reward for doing something i can't remember are now in the market as well. (not sure the Aur amount tho)
point is anything in the market that has a blue hue to it is a BPO and always cost AUR but are worth it in the long run if you can pick them up.
