The new found knowledge that there are Corps out there that take the game so seriously to the point of role playing scares the bejeezus outta me.

To each their own. A corp can be whatever it wants to be. It's up to you to decide if it's a good fit or not. And it's up to you to move on if it isn't a good fit. Coming on the forums and complaining like a little 15 year old is poor form. Unless your 15. If you are, then GROW UP YOU SPOILED BRAT!

I used to do this back in World of Warcraft all the time. Most of my fondest memories from that game are from Role-Playing with buddies and guildmates.

I actually got one of my characters In-Character banned from the guild because he assaulted two (three?) officers for what he believed were corrupt and immoral practices. Funnest hour of my WoW career.

You ever watched "The Online Gamer" series on youtube? If you have then you'd understand why I find this very unsettling. I used to think these type of things were just really overly exaggerated stereotypes of MMO players, but now that I know it really exists and people out there really do take it to that point, my god, i don't even....

Uh... yeah, people have fun.

Real serious people go the whole nine yards. Replica platemail and everything. The high quality weapons are weighted and can hurt like hell if you hit someone with them. And no one dresses up in the brightly colored wizard hats and talks in a 'ye olde' accent unless they're trolling for laughs. Real serious LARP is more like paintball if everyone was a viking. (Of course, some people don't have access to the better stuff, so sometimes I guess you do get the guys with plastic swords messing around)

If your gamer buddy had walked into a group of real serious LARPers with that act, he'd have gotten beat down.

This is a series of 4-5 minute long videos where a guy tells his buddy about his first try and a real serious LARP. Pretty funny, in my opinion.

Also, you don't actually take that 'Online Gamer' thing seriously, right? There's an episode where he beats up a charity collector for saying 'God bless you' for goodness sake.

Watched the first video, it was really funny stuff, however it just made feel even more creeped out that these things actually happen lol, for anyone 13 and under it seems like a fun game or whatever but grown men making some armor and magic imaginary magic potions from kool aid and hoping into a forest to level up while slaying each other sounds way too nerd like for me.

All I know is, if anybody I know ever caught me doing something like this, I don't even wanna think about it.....

I dont do it either but people can do what they wanna do. Maybe you shouldnt care so much what people think and do what you want to do. To eager to please and not be yourself.

If your not interested in RP don't get involved is the best advice, some guys do it for fun or trollz but then you come across those strange ones who make you wonder if they know what reality they are in.
