This list is not set in any particular order...
1. Communications. We had different ingame channels. Anyone could talk to their squad. The squadleader could talk to either his squad or the other officers, which means all of the 4-16 other squadleades and the 2-4 platoon leaders and the OIC. The platoon leader could talk to his entire platoon and the OIC could talk to the entire team for those epic pep talks!
I would like this or a version of this especially if we get more large scale battles in the future. With larger squads coming, I hope we will be able to have a "officer chat" consisting of the squadleaders, the chosen "battle commander" and the guy from EVE in orbit. Changing mid battle should be easy, we could always asign the "push to talk button" to a "swap ingame chat channel" button. This is possible to create with the current system but I do miss the effortlessness of the MAG system.
2. Proxy chat. For those that haven't played a game with it, its just awesome! Being able to tell that bluedot to get out of the LAV, or to stop redline sniping and go do something useful is not only very practical, but also very entertaining. I remember several times me sneaking behind enemy lines only to get cought due to farting like the Almight Jabba himself. Being quiet and not communicating with your squad was an important factor in being stealthy.
This is the feature I miss the most in Dust, I hope it will be implemented down the line. Yes I know, closed dropsuit and all, don't really care about stuff making sense, a lot of stuff already doesn't in this game. Fun over realism any day.
3. A working medkit system. Or "nanite injector" for all you EVEtards out there. I'll gladly admit that the rezzing in MAG was a little over the top. You could squirt someone from some distance and they'd instantly spring back to life with 100% health, this also led to rez-chains where one guy could pic up one, that got the next guy and suddenly you had a 8 man squad back on their feet fighting within a few seconds.
The way it works now in Dust just isn't satisfactory. A meter count to the downed friendly for the medic would be nice, a needle that actually hits its target, a skill that increases your bleed out time..... One issue here is that everytime soemone uses an AUR item of any sort and doesn't get picked up, CCP has a potential for that character restocking and by extension making more money.
4. Progressive gameplay. We had some in Skirmish 1.0, and it was fantastic! I'm not gonna elaborate more since I take it as a certainty that this will be implemented in the future, how could they not?
5. A capture the flag kind of game mode. In MAG it was called Aquisision, one atticking and one derfending team, but thats not really important. The attacker had to get the bunker line down, push the defenders to spawn at the back of the map and go in and steal a prototype vehicle and drive it out the way they came in. So it was in effect a combination of a preogressive game mode and the more classical capture the flag.
I don't care for the Lore, what reasoning lies behind a game mode as this, which form it takes or none of those details. I just want a game mode were the team that can bring object X from point A to point B wins. Call it the "Steal that prototec thingy" or whatever for all I care. You can win by steamrolling, tactical manouvers, being sneaky or just be a die hard rambo that gets it all done on his own, which one man could in MAG, though it was extremely rare and very difficult to do..
6. Larger clan/corp grouping and deployment. Not an issue at the moment, with such small teams there really isn't any need to beef up the groups further. Any decent corp group of 4 should be able to stomp their way to victory in the game's current state. This will however be very important when hopefully the game will get more competitive.
However, 8 man corp battles? Its pathetic...
And by all means, I do not intend to make Dust into MAG, not by a long shot. These are mere fractions of what makes a game fun and I don't think it will do anything but make Dust a more fun game to play. That is all.

1 agree comms need works and better layer swapping. 2 proxy chat is always bad because it always degrades down into 'name calling' 3 nanite injectors are not 100% health items and there is always a chance that you can pernamenly offline a clone. Grenades explosiveness vehicles typically do this. What you should be asking for is being able to shot downed players and get them offline as well. 4. prgoressive game modes may make a return. 6 CTF needs to be eve sensed, (ie instead of classic deathmatch your burning though yoru opponents clones instead, insteada of domination youre' blowing his ship up) ctf if added needs to be sand boxed as well but with the advent of high speed vehicles I can see this being difficult. Arena mode will allow for more traditional game types. but saying grab flag and win wouldn't make any sense, flag grabbing hasn't won any wars since medieval times. |

That was one fast reply!
2. Negating the benefit for many just cause some will abuse it is hardly a good argument. There is always a mute function. 3. Never said they should be, just remove the "clunkyness" and add some fetures to it as mentioned in OP. 6. Well not really. It could be "steal those launch codes", where one team has to infiltrate a base, get the launch codes and will win when some missile blow the MMC or whatever up. As mentioned, I don't care about the reasoning or lore beind it, I'm sure there are thousnds of EVEtards that can come up with something that makes sence and is within accepted lore. I merely want the insane thrill that a game mode like that normaly brings to any game. |

larger fights and better team deployments are coming hopefully 16 vs 16, right now with corp fights the usual probelm is the entire side rarely gets filled up.
as for 6 its more of a game flow question test it and try it, may require several fragments of code who knows. Overall needs to be sandbox centric as the current other two are. |

Also, the ease at which you could move around... Loved it. Going from MAG to KZ3 was the worst decision ever, I got so frustrated with the chunky and heavy movement in KZ3, I just abandoned the game after a little while. I guess MAG spoiled me.
Now, MAG was perhaps too extreme like that, allowing too much movement really, but I'd love to be able to walk over 40 degree gradients and not feel like I put my feet in some super adhesive.
I miss MAG... great game, great community, and this place looks to shape up to become more of the same :D |

I have never been in a corp battle without the enemy team being filled up, unless they don't show up at all. We have only been less players due to the game freezing up, noto our fault. A 8 vs 8 format is bad for several reasons, we have corps with hundreds of members but we end up playing with the elite of just 8 guys. Its more a case of "who can field the 8 best guys", rather than who can field the best team. And no, 8 dudes do not qualify as a "team" in this context, I just made a ruling! |

It offers a lot to those that won't spam it with childish insults.... |

Thats if we get the option to turn it off
Then again how would it work
If i turned it off it means i dont hear others but would other players still hear me? if they still hear me then i dont want it at all because thats BS, if we get an 'off' option then it should be completely turned off at both ends |

1. Agreed 100%. It's really starting to hold the game back in a testing sense. Fully, integrated, communicating squads are needed at this point to truly test the effects and balance of combined arms. There are going to be some monster multi-squad-beasts-from-hell when all this is in place. CCP need time to experince that and apply balancing.
2. Agreed again, so long as there's a MAG mouthbreather suppression button.
3. Agreed. Fix ragdoll location mismatch - also applies to hitting with the grace shot. Add visual indicator of bleedout stage and range-to-target. In MAG, next to the knife range, the medkit was the most ridiculous thing in the game.
4.That Replication skirmish map is etched in our collective bones now. Maps must tell a story, CCP. We also need tight underground tunnel systems leading to functional control rooms(not just a button to hack), etc.
5. Agreed for the skirmishes we're playing right now. In the long run, the EVE universe will provide a plethora of real objectives - fighting for the orbital cannon, destroying manufacturing infrastructure, taking control hubs, knocking out scanning equipment, etc. All mined, refined, manufactured, paid for, transported, and installed by someone. In other games this stuff is just some arbitrary backstory, but in New Eden **** is real.
6. Agreed. It's there already, CCP is just being very cautious in how quickly they turn it all on, which makes a lot of sense. Complicated **** is complicated. |
