or at least a special suit (like a type-c) or something that lets them use a second light weapon instead of the sidearm slot.
yes?
basically i hate tanks. and assaults should have more guns to set them apart.

I am a firm believer in unrestricting the weapon/equipment slots so you can carry whatever combination you please. Sidearms should be balanced by their lower fitting cost, and equipment only should be optional. |

that's an awesome idea or if they run into balancing issues they could just make the drop-suit move slower like with the armor!
seems logical that a higher fitting cost would sap from the kinetic power |

A mass for all modules would be an excellent balance tool!
Why didn't anyone seriously bring this up before, EVE even does it that way. |

So basically your asking to buff the assault suit and nerf the scout suit.
An Shotgun and Laser Rifle combination that can be wielded by one player sounds, and I've rarely every used this term in all the 3 months I've been here, overpowered.
Maybe if the Scout Type II could have two light weapons and no equipment. But the assault has versatility, having OK armor and second best mobility.
No, assault suits should not have two light weapons, if anything the scout suit should. |

No, the same thing would apply to the scout suit. They could carry two light weapons if they wished, but would likely stick to smgs for the extra mobility. The whole concept of "heavy-light-sidearm-grenade-equipement" balance is becoming a hindrance to adding new gear since they need to be balanced as a class on TOP of as a weapon. Sharpshooter, Reload, Ammo, Etc could then be grouped by function type (hybrid, projectile, laser, explosives, etc). Much easier to expand and tweak balance in the future, IMO. |

Maybe make swarm launchers a side arm? They are more useless than a pistol and SMG in most circumstances. |

Then...
logistics should have sidearms scouts should get more HP heavies should get an equipment slot
If assault gets this huge buff/variant, other suits need a buff/variants to balance it out.
I think it might happen since I saw an assault suit with 2 light slots in the fitting screen of this vid http://youtu.be/Xnt1tTlnqfY?t=26s |

They should be grouped by function, and fitting+weight can keep forge scouts from running around willy nilly. Swarms, AV grenades, Flux grenades, Forges, and the new plasma cannon all do AV in different ways, with different fitting costs. A massive weight penalty for the forges (or even a suit class restriction, if necessary for heavy weapons) should be the exception, not the rule.
Sorry for hijacking the thread Brass, but your suggestion was just so perfect I'm running through how it could fix major parts of the game |

Agreed - but then they are carrying less of other things, furthermore they could go with NO "weapons" and stick to pure support Agreed - but only if they are never getting their speed back Agreed - but can they fit it with their massive fitting costs of the heavy weapons? Forge + nanohive is an obvious concern, but can be balanced with higher cluster costs per reload, and giving up a sidearm or grenades
Needing to distinguish between what is a weapon, grenade, and equipment is a roadblock to adding cool stuff that would be unbalanced in one or the other. There are places for hard limits (like heavy weapons) but I would rather see that as the exception than the rule. |

Of course major drawbacks for using heavy weapons on any other dropsuit but I'm against a hard block for it, even bs weapons can fit on cruisers in eve, hell sometimes cruiser weapons on frigates. |

This is a bad idea, basically OP is wanting to take away a need for dirrefent roles and suit catecories and make all suits pretty much the same.
If one needs to have more weapons to combat different kinds of situations on battlefield, then have a different suits for that and swap suits in supply depot. Or heavens sake have a squad mate run as that suit to cover that role. |

I've been in love with the idea of two light weapons for assault since E3, but the weight as a balance metric actually opens more interesting doors. |

I want vastly different roles! I just think people should be able to make the CHOICES they want and let the consequences be on the battlefield. so if you want to have a Launcher and a HMG as a scout. you could. but you wont be able move unless you have 3 complex power upgrades on a protosuit! you feel me? even then you could only move slightly faster than a militia heavy. but at least you could do it.
edit: and in the end i think that mentality sets a ccp game apart from the others. |

No.
No suit has two specialized weapon slots.
Heavy has one H. Assault has one L.
A laser & AR would be a devastating combination.
Upgrade your SMG or Scrambler Pistol like the rest of us. Or run a Logi Bro and learn to do without. Hey Dev! Make this guy only use Militia Logistics for the next year. Don't forget to cut his CPU in half.
@Odiain Suliis has the opposing view well stated. |

Would be a massive strain on CPU. Something is giving somewhere, and they can't fire both at once. |

Yeah the point about CPU and PG is correct. There's no way you can fit 2 Light Weapons and fit anything else on an Assault suit.
Maybe on a Proto with Maximum Skills and CPU enhancers+PG Upgrades....Maybe Still Assaults don't deserve it. Scout Type II is like a logi with much weaker HP and less Modules. WTF is up with that. |

Scout type 2 might be moving to the melee specialist. Notice the B-series base melee skill? That was a typo but Wolfman liked the idea. The Logi 2 >>>> scout 2 has been a known problem since they came out. |

There doesn't have to be. Just today we were asked what we thought of a suit with 2 grenade slots. Why not let the player choose? |
