This is a suggestion based on actual warfare and planetary assault. In a battle dropships deploy from a base or from the hanger of a battleship like the MCC. I isn't realistic or strategic to deploy out to the field then bring in a ship. It would be betting to spawn in the MCC get to a module in a hanger and and call their ship. Then maybe there could a animation where the ship comes up from the floor or something and then everyone gets an and the pilot takes off out to the field. And you should be able to fly the ships back to the MCC when you're done with them, because you don't always need dropships the whole game and you cant send them back when done. So they self destruct and they can get pretty expensive. |

Im fine with it too, but im talking about reality of it. In an invasion you dont land on a planet and then call in a dropship. You send out a dropship from a starship or whatever and drop soldiers off and do whatever the ship is needed for. Thats how evasions go. On smaller map dropships may not be needed, but in much bigger map (if they add any full scale war sized maps) implementing that would be much more realistic.
And please for give my if im pushing this too hard. Im a very tactical player. Ads Dust is the kind of in depth; full scale war game I've been waiting on. I want it to be as accurate to a planetary assault as possible. |

Even assuming that there are RDVs waiting with vehicles already loaded, it has to undock and de-orbit to make it to the battlefield. Low Earth Orbit is about 200 miles at minimum, which means the RDV has to average 48,000 mph with the peak speed occurring within the atmosphere!
Does this mesh with current New Eden technology?
Well, ****. That is an extremely good point.
great point |

I think they come from the MCC, not the Warbarge. I could be wrong, but that would explain the time... As for the OP, I completely agree with anything that involves more hangers and internal rooms within the MCC. It's just too awesome looking to function as nothing more than a room for our soldiers to jump out of
good point

That's the only way it could possibly work. Yeah, actually I'm pretty sure that's exactly how it works... X) As for functionality, I suppose it would be nicer to just drop down IN your nasty tank/ aerocraft...I mean even more on the second one. Personally I'd like to drop in my "dropsuit" every time unless I'm spawning from a clone reserve ^^
Of course you'd be able to spawn and drop from the MCC if you want. |
