Seriously, tired of having to convert GMT to figure out what time something has been posted/replied to in my timezone on these forums.
Don't be selfish CCP, not everybody is on GMT like you. Heck, I would guess 99% of the people that visit this forum are not on GMT time. So PLEASE, give us the option to choose our timezone and have it shown on posts based on our settings. |

While I agree we should be able to choose our own timezones, it's only a minor inconvenience. You only have to convert it once, it doesn't change like currency. Then just add or subtract the required number of hours, and you have the time. It's not that difficult. |

Or you could have already figured out how many hours difference it is and make a simple mental subtraction/addition. |

My timezone is -8, and CCP uses 24-hour time format. Plus the American format is mm/dd/year. Trying to convert this backward euro garbage of 2013.02.04 21:17 GMT to PST 12-hour format and mm/dd/year is effin ridiculous.
I don't give a **** how easy or hard it is, these euros need to have an option for each person to see THEIR timezone and preferred date format on each and every post.
Tired of trying to make heads or tails of this backward euro date/time format on these forums. Every other forum on the face of this planet has the option to change these options, except the Dust 514 forums. |

That's a lot of hate you seem to have there. Calm down and suck it up like everyone else. I have to do the same thing on 'backwards American' sites, as you so eloquently put it, and I have never complained nor has my brain had a problem doing the minimal calculation to 'make heads or tails' of it.
Take your attitude elsewhere. |

GMT/UTC is actually the universal world timezone. I don't know why some americans insist on being so self-centered and that everything is done according to their wishes. |

Been suckin' it up for too long now (months). There is absolutely NO reason for timezone and time-format options to be absent on a forum like this.

Like I said in one of my previous posts, I agree with you but your attitude stinks. Because of this, I hope the feature never gets added and everyone else who wants the same outcome, only has you to blame.

1. Mmm, using a 24h time way to complicated for you, you need a to know if its AM or PM? well, if its Past 12, its PM and you only need to subtract 12.
2. If your time-zone is -8 then subtract 8 BEFORE doing the 24h format -> AM/PM conversion.
3. So they use DD/MM/YY on the forums? nope i.e: " Extended server downtime - 1/31/13 " i don't know else in the world, but "euro" years have only 12 months so I'm gonna suppose its MM/DD/YY date format (which btw is complete bullshit, why do you put days between month and year? that's like SO efficient to sort)
PD: nice attitude man, I'm sorry our poor time formats suppose a shock after watching your highly advanced and efficient ones, and that your also highly advanced and efficient brain can't do 2 ******* sums and an (inexistant, because format is already MM/DD/YYYY) swap. After all there in -+USA? must exist that wonder gadget called calculator that do sums for you. Here in Europe we are waiting for the abacus, our experts conclude development could be completed this year but we had to pause it because we understand that developing the wheel is more important to move vegetables from our fields to the lord castle else he may come, burn our houses and **** our women.
Edit: on a serious note, the forums are in GMT because the GM announce things in GMT, it's static text, i ain't seen any "dynamic" time on the forums to change to other format. And if they have to use any time, why not GMT/UTM? |

Tired of trying to make heads or tails of this backward euro date/time format on these forums. Every other forum on the face of this planet has the option to change these options, except the Dust 514 forums. The US standard (stupid) date layout: MM/DD/YYYY The EU standard (rational) date layout: DD/MM/YYYY CCP's New Eden Time (also rational): YYYY/MM/DD
Why is the US layout stupid? Glad you asked!
Smallest unit: Day Medium unit: Month Largest unit: Year
Non-US layouts: Small/Medium/Large or Large/Medium/Small This, obviously, is logical, rational and easy to understand. It makes sense, and it makes it easy to follow even without a familiarity with the measurement units involved.
US layout: Medium/Small/Large It should now be obvious why separating out the mid-range unit of time and sticking it in front of the others is stupid. Just like how nobody calls the game "DUST ten and five hundred and one".
New Eden time has a date layout that's actually a more US-friendly compromise between the two systems. EU people who are used to the EXACT opposite instead of just the year being in the wrong place have no trouble understanding how the date layout works. So how exactly is this a problem for you? Because unless you're working from a perspective where the current almost-universal world standard for numbering is a second language for you, I can't really see any way it would be problematic.
Time, maybe... but even that is using the game's standard clock, which is in turn synced with the UNIVERSAL WORDLWIDE STANDARD used by ALMOST EVERYONE WITH ANY INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AT ALL to base their times on, so I still don't see a legitimate problem with it. |

It is statements like this, from the minority of numb-minded Americans, like yourself, that encourage the rest of the world to hate your nation.
Being #1 in the world for anything is figurative. In what field are you #1, exactly? There are many sources on the net stating the international figures for economic growth, education, military power and quality of life, but seeing as though you have quickly turned this thread into a troll thread, you can find the sources yourself. You will be disheartened to know the the USA is not #1 for many things, and in the areas that actually matter to a nation, are way below average.
I'm out of this thread now, I will leave you to your loathing. |
