You only have to convert it once, it doesn't change like currency. Then just add or subtract the required number of hours, and you have the time. It's not that difficult. My timezone is -8, and CCP uses 24-hour time format. Plus the American format is mm/dd/year. Trying to convert this backward euro garbage of 2013.02.04 21:17 GMT to PST 12-hour format and mm/dd/year is effin ridiculous. I don't give a **** how easy or hard it is, these euros need to have an option for each person to see THEIR timezone and preferred date format on each and every post. Tired of trying to make heads or tails of this backward euro date/time format on these forums. Every other forum on the face of this planet has the option to change these options, except the Dust 514 forums. The US standard (stupid) date layout: MM/DD/YYYY The EU standard (rational) date layout: DD/MM/YYYY CCP's New Eden Time (also rational): YYYY/MM/DD
Why is the US layout stupid? Glad you asked!
Smallest unit: Day Medium unit: Month Largest unit: Year
Non-US layouts: Small/Medium/Large or Large/Medium/Small This, obviously, is logical, rational and easy to understand. It makes sense, and it makes it easy to follow even without a familiarity with the measurement units involved.
US layout: Medium/Small/Large It should now be obvious why separating out the mid-range unit of time and sticking it in front of the others is stupid. Just like how nobody calls the game "DUST ten and five hundred and one".
New Eden time has a date layout that's actually a more US-friendly compromise between the two systems. EU people who are used to the EXACT opposite instead of just the year being in the wrong place have no trouble understanding how the date layout works. So how exactly is this a problem for you? Because unless you're working from a perspective where the current almost-universal world standard for numbering is a second language for you, I can't really see any way it would be problematic.
Time, maybe... but even that is using the game's standard clock, which is in turn synced with the UNIVERSAL WORDLWIDE STANDARD used by ALMOST EVERYONE WITH ANY INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AT ALL to base their times on, so I still don't see a legitimate problem with it. |

Just happens to be the time that most intercontinental business', games, agencies and armies use.
I give my heart felt apologies that the time the world uses as world time is an inconvenience to you.........
How ever, a little drop down box that you can choose your time zone in options for people incapable or un willing to work it out wouldn't hurt. Would it ccp? Technically, GMT and UTC are the same thing.
And technically, it's on New Eden Time, which "just happens" to line up neatly with GMT/UTC. Totally a concidence. Not planned by the Jovians Devs at all. |

You will find that out soon enough when the Obama admin finally destroys our once great country and turns it into a socialist wasteland resembling something Hitler may have come up with if he was alive and in charge.
Very few want to hear it or admit it, but we are the staple of this planet. We are one of the youngest countries, yet the most powerful and prominent in the world. And now we come to this.
Well played, good sir. Well played. |
