Lets say Zitro drove a prototype tank and someone kills him while he calls his tank in. If that person was the enemy and that enemy gained the ability to hack his tank, should he be allowed to drive it if he hasn't invested any SP into tank skills? |

Yes, it would be Zitro's fault for getting killed so easily anyway, so he should be punished.
Maybe you should just get a movement penalty, as in your tank doesn't go as fast. |

It is rather strange that Average Joe who spent nothing on tank skills would have the ability to drive it. Why do we have to invest hundreds of thousands of SP into tanks if you know that the enemy can just go off and use it? |

look at it this way the guy that stole the tank shouldnt be able to use all the fittings as he doesnt have the skills right
in evey ive u have the skills to fly the ship but dont have the cpu/pg skills or the skills to use lets say the armor repper then modules go offline till ur at the max cpu/pg of ur skills
this means that if u dont have large turrets lvl 1 u cant use the main gun of the tank |

Simple answer no
Take EVE for an example
Just say a player is out in his pod and stumbles across an empty Drake (Battlecruiser), he may be able to board the ship if he has the required skills to fly the hull but if he didnt he couldnt board it to begin with
Also if he could fly the ship but it already had T2 mods on it they would be offline because he doesnt have the required skills to use them |

So then if Zitro called in the proto tank but just wanted to snipe in the turrets then whoever jumps into the driver seat would also have to have the same skills and setup otherwise it would sit there because you had no other drivers. |

No you can BUY anything you want at any time. I can buy right now buy as many proto suits as i want but i wont be able to use them till i put skill points into them. Tanks are same way. If someone invested 3mil sp into tanks and has it stolen by someone who hasnt spent anything into tank, why should they be able to use it as a weapon? |

When I steal blueberry's tank I use it as taxi to get to the closest object and then leave it there...Eventually another blue dot will grab it and so the cycle repeats... |

I just want squad lock (option) so random blueberries cant hop into my tank or turrets unless i want them to, they are just useless and dont want them in it.
The way to program it would be simply put it in the squad command wheel that functions as an on/off option and available to every member of the squad and applies to any vehicle they themselves call in or are in the drivers seat of.
Also an Anti-Theft module on your dropsuit would be nice this way enemies can't hack the tank for say a period of like 60s after activation buying someone time if they die before getting to the tank. I think this also has a good risk/reward, either destroy the tank or fend off the owners until you can hack it. |

After reading this post i can only imagine this happened. and I find it amusing.
I have on several occasions stolen a tank from a reddot that chose a poor position to call in his tank.
I believe that yes if i manage to get near (where you have deemed safe enough to drop in a tank) and then kill you on top of that i then manage to spend the 30 seconds or whatever it takes to hack your tank when anyone could jump in or kill me.
I should in fact, now have a shiny new toy with which to drive straight at you and do with as i wish.
I also believe if i manage to steal it, survive the rest of the match with it and then end the match, it and everything on it should now be mine. (only red hacked tanks not stolen blues) |

I think personally it's fine if people steal other's vehicles etc through hacking but they should only be able to drive the vehicle if they have the required skills for it, the gunner seat in a lav for example is different and i think anyone should be able to use a gunner seat as the turret operation skills they have will effect the damage output anyway. |

I think what we need is all vehicles get a bonus from skills like eve ships do, +5% to mobility per level, that kinda stuff, that way someone can steal it but it wont be as good, also i think we need a short delay when you deploy a vehicle before someone on your team can get in it to prevent blues stealing each others HAV's, of course the enemy should be able to just hack and drive if given the chance |

You gain knowledge by doing.
First time I hack you I die after 10 seconds. then 15. then 30.
I hack it, it's mine. You left the keys in it running. |

cool nice ideals, keep them coming. i personally believe they should not be able to operate the main weapon or tank if they havnt put the skill points into it. but they can still get in or activate a self destruct feature.
p.s. i dont think this has happened to Zitro, i just used him as a prop cuz he is bad at tanks |

Have you forgotten that there is s militia version if almost anything? Anyone can get a militia vehicle and use it, but thru can't use it well and get the crappiest stats. So yes you should be able to steal his tank but you shouldn't be able to use his module's or get any bonus stats from the tank, you hijack it and don't have the sp you get base stats |

You have a point, I agree, it adds a little realism to the game but at the same time makes it less fun. For me, it's Fun > Realism So I can't support this even though it is a good idea.
Just to help you out here a little bit, that lambo example is very much void and incorrect. You made the example based on the fact that you already know how to drive, If you never took a driving lesson or gotten your license you couldn't steal it and drive off now could you, at least not effectively anyway.
Let's make it something not so basic, if a XB-70 Valkyrie fighter jet was left unoccupied on the field what soldier would run to try and Hi-jack it when he has never seen a day in a jet before, let alone go through the extensive training needed to fly one. This all all applies to the OP's post.

Comparing a tank to an expensive car is ridiculous.
You should compare it to a real modern tank. If you got in, you probably wouldn't even figure out how to turn on the ignition, let alone operate the main barrel.
This should really be like EvE (it is one Universe after all). No skills, can't use. Partial skills, partial use.
There should still be an option to do "something" if you got close to an enemy empty tank. Maybe hack/sabotage it to blow up when someone enters it |
