Realy like this setup but Im confused on what I should be working toward. I was thinking passive scan dampening and shield enhancing to start. Any advice would be great, thx. |

For shotty I recommend using the scout suit for the speed. Cap as many points as you can in the beginning, then stick around your squad. When they start to get into a fight, flank the enemy to come up on their blindside.
So basically at the start of the match cap as many points as you can, go for clone units first so if you die, the rest of your team can spawn there. After the first couple of rushes, stick by your squad, or the biggest mash of blueberries you can find and as soon as they get into a fire fight, look to flank the enemy.
If you get into a direct fire fight, round a corner and wait for your enemy to come to you. Most will blindly follow you, giving you the easy kill. Try your best to stay away from any points that are actively being held by the enemy and go for any other, using your shotgun to clear out any enemies you may find. |

1) Lesson learned: when I'm alone and see a small suit with a giant right-arm, I GTFO 2) I love this tactic so much.

As the prev poster stated flanking is key if your going to use a scout dropsuit.
You can take out an enemies whole front line by picking your targets carefully so that no one sees you coming.
Learn to strafe well while firing from the hip, as a shottty scout your one of the few classes that can take on a heavy. If you go up against one get in Close circle round while changing your direction and obviously aim for that big overconfident face.
Also jumping from height while shooting a target below you is one way to surprise them.
Edit: I use speed and dmg mods... No point in defence if they can't get a shot into you |

In the lows get an enhanced sprint mod and hacking module. Run in fast kill from behind, hack faster so you can get the hell out of there. Shield buffer is fine in the highs. The specialist shotgun is your friend. If you can get a type 2 you can slap on some remote mines and a nanohive to leave nasty surprizes forever.
Also fun shotgun medic. Repair gun and nanite injector. |

First of all, go to the Training Grounds if you want good feedback
Generally you want to use scout, unless you don't think you can utilize speed and stealth well enough, then go assault. Shotguns are all about calculating range and distances. Best distance is generally from an inch to two meters away from your opponent, after that you start losing potential damage, meaning the enemy will be able to hurt you faster, and might be able to kill you before you can kill them.
Always flank with shotgun. I experimented with charging up to people, and whilst it does work, you lose so much of your health that it's best to go stealthy, as is in the line with extreme range weapons (extreme close or extreme long range, i.e. the sniper rifle).
Hope that helps.
P.S. Stick to cover, and try to lure them towards you. Being out in the open means you're open to attack, usually at a distance, and that will result in certain death. |

remember the scout suit isnt for head on engagements, use your speed and low profile to flank the enemy, go around them and attack them when they least expect it
if you are using a scout suit and engaging a heavy hmg head on while he is facing you, you are doing it wrong |

Hi Warchild,
I use the shotgun regularly with my scout and as a lot of people have already said it's good to be able to surprise your opponents. Now I believe a lot of people underestimate the scan profile, scan precision and scan range skills (I even use the modules) but I've got to admit that I'm not entirely sure how they work exactly either. What I do know though is that a lot of times I see the enemy's red dot coming around a corner and I just line up my shotgun for an easy kill and they never see it coming, unless one of their guys have spotted me.
Another thing I've been hugely successful and seen other shotgun scouts do very well also is place strategic uplinks, especially in skirmish. I prefer the one which can have two active uplinks at the same time. You could even go with a scout type II for an extra equipment slot unless you prefer to have a sidearm ready.
I also agree with everything that crazy space 1 said about skills and modules and everyone on the thread on how to play smart with a shotgunner. I do think scout suit is the better choice for a shotgun suit personally but you just have to try different fittings to find the best one suited for your style. That's the beautiful thing about Dust I guess:) |

Personal opinion? With the shotgun, use remote explosives. You can get in, hack, plant explosives, and get out . When you see someone's trying to hack your objective, blow them sky high :) this works really well with the shotguns stopping power. |

work on increasing your survivability, once you have a decent weapon that is. 1-2 shots kill most things, which is almost enough time for them to realise whats happening before they drop like a sack of spuds. but that doesnt mean that there isnt someone with an ar on a hill spotting you doing it. thats where having enough sheild comes into play to dodge into cover again quickly. i recommend 2 x 60hp shield extenders in the highs.
other than that increase your sensor range, as a shotgun scout, knowing whats around the next corner and which way its facing its deadly important since you should never be entering a gun fight. Get good at flanking by far is way more important that actual skills, then you'll be getting a 10+ kdr fairly often without even squad backup |

Don't bother with survivability skills - if you get shot, you're not doing it right. Your strengths are speed, stealth, and massive damage in close quarters.
Dropsuit Command and Profile Dampening are your most important skills, they will massively limit your scan profile, making you harder to detect on scanners. Weaponry is a must for improved damage, and Shotgun skill itself is good to limit spread.
My CQC setup is twin profile dampeners and a damage mod. I almost never get picked up on radar, and can flank easily and get a jump on pretty much everyone except experienced defensive scouts. Never run when you suspect there are enemies nearby, as it increases your scan profile.
I have some more tips in my Shotgun Scout Militia Fit Guide. |

Aim for the head. This makes the difference between a shottie who gets shot back at, and the good one who doesn't. In practise, you need kbm or pad without aim assist to conveniently keep the reticule high at close quarters combat. |

Scout suit has a smaller scan profile.
You main weapon is stealth, surprise and a fanatical devotion on shooting people in the back. |

Do you ADS for that? I tried shooting the wall to test if ADS tightened the spread, but I couldn't realy tell. |

I allways run in circles near map edge. If i see red dots I just 'diving' toward them and shoot them in the back. They never expected enemy from this side because mostly of them are looking at the middle of the map. Speed bonus + adrenaline bonus and low suit scan profile is the key for this play style |

If you want to go a bit more crazy with it you can use the old heavy trick of grabbing an LAV, aiming for the nearest red dot when you get there jump out shotgun to the face, rinse and repeat. |

As everyone else has said, Scout suit, focus and speed and stealth instead of survivability, ambush and just generally be as underhanded as possible. I have fun with Remote Explosives on Skirmish, as if you're diligent enough to keep resupplying your REs, you can hold an entire objective on your own without even needing to be there. I'd recommend Flux grenades, too, which will require some SP into Grenadier, but I think it's worth it. Flux grenades destroy electronic equipment as well as all enemy shields. So you can use Flux grenades to soften your enemies up before one-shotting them with your shotgun. |

Do you really want to be a scout, or an assault?
Shotgun assaults are for your traditional combat- shotgun scouts are for sneaking around, dropping uplinks, hacking objectives unnoticed, and ninja-killing anyone who gets in the way. |
