Are you a Dualshock user? Keyboard and mouse? Move controller? Just curious what everyone uses. As a Logi I'm not too concerned with headshots and such, so it's mainly a good old Dualshock for me. What are the pro's and cons of each? Is a Dualshock user at a huge disadvantage versus a keyboard & mouse or Move user? Can you access menu options easier on one or the other? |

Someone with a mouse will always have better precision and accuracy than someone with a Controller. Though in the end it will always come down to pure gun skill than the equipment you use. I'd like to see how one plays with a Move controller, looks like it could be fun.
As for menus it's pretty easy to access regardless of what you're using. It's only 1 button. |

Mouse has unrivaled long range accuracy (too much IMO) but general movement and vehicle control I give to the DS3. However, the movement issue can be alleviated w/ practice (I had never used a M/K in shooter before, not very efficient with it) and that makes me wish it hadn't been included. It's too late to do anything about it now, though. I just don't like not knowing if I got beat because my opponent was better with a DS3 or had an OP aiming device.
OT: I use a DS3. Too many years of gaming with a controller to bother learning a new control setup. |

Right, but on the DS3, once you hold R2 to bring up the menu I find it difficult to move the right thumbstick onto the infantry item I want during a firefight. I'm wondering if this is something that will be able to be mapped to a key or mouse button eventually. Just trying to get a feel for how many folks are using keyboard and mouse. I have a feeling it's the vast majority. |

I've never had an issue with this, I've played a lot of games that require this same mechanic. Most recently Far Cry 3(Should've been game of the year ) So perhaps I'm used to it. |

My awesome blue dualshock... or I did until for some reason the left analog stick is always just far enough forward it is registered and you can't control menus because it's constantly going up, I've tried cleaning it with Q-tips and what not, I've tried forcing it down but all to no avail... I guess my favorite controller is off limits in Dust...
I usually use a normal black dualshock though when I get bored of that I do sometimes, rarely, switch to my K&M and I don't like motion controllers, though the move is supposed to be good. |

I was wanting to use keyboard and mouse but after using it for sometime I found it to feel like more of a hassle to use than controller, plus last time I checked you can't even map the keys. |

Some say mouse has more accuracy. I disagree I always move the mouse to much and I cant hit the side of a barn with it. With the ds3 I am worlds more accurate. Now not to say mouse keyboard isn't more accurate for someone who has always used it and not a ds3 because I'm sure it is. But I cannot be efficient with it therefore I prefer the ds3 |

KBM. There are pretty decent DS3 users around, but I'll always find it hard to believe they can ever match counter-strike quality headshot speed and accuracy in close quarters.
That said, the low recoil and controller steadiness makes for some impressive medium range stuff. And the really good controller users can stay in the top game here, because many dust weapons are tailored for it.
KBM has the highest potential, but the top margin is not as much as many pc gamers would believe. |

There is people want to play with move and I'm one of them. Move support is real good option Now I persiste using it because it's always better for me than using the dualshock which I cannot use.
We need also : - KB AND mouse button (re)mapping capability, - PS move hit detection issue to solve, (too much time I hit clones front of me without damage them) - the gun (when using move) don't follow cursor when shooting... (I mean that I lost visibility on the clone I fight when because it goes hide by my gun.) - allow us to play with PS Move nav controller one hand WITH the mouse the other hand.
Hope to see these coming soon Thanks CCP dev ! |

I always find it amazing how people always "it's the skillz yo" rather than "that guy's connection must be a little faster than mine."
The amount of lag I'm encountering now that we're in open beta reminds me of the old builds when you froze every 2 to 3 games.
Unless the person really has no idea what they're doing, then it comes down to connection. It will always and forever be that way. The so-called elite killers are always the ones that lag the worst. I'm surprised nobody ever mentions that. Most though will say that I have some ridiculous agenda, or that I feel that the gaming world is out to get me. It's an observation I've made, which I then think of possible reasons for it always seems I get screwed over.
It's simple: connection means everything. |

Keyboard and mouse, been playing PC shooters since wolfenstien 3D. Tried controler first though, only major improvement is having the mouse wheel switch to your secondary weapon. Its true you cant remap keys yet, the only key that I dont like is "X" for grenades. Another thing that sucks is you have to leave your controller on or you get a black screen that says reconnect controller, also picking a spawn point is stupidly hard so I always have the controller nearby.
Keyboard and mouse is superior for sure. But only realy noticable if your playing a fast paced twitchy shooter. Only reason to switch if your already comfortable with the controler but not the mouse is if you wanted to play competitively. If your looking to improve your performance with a controler pick up those analog extender things, think their like 5 bucks, they realy do help give you more control. |

Logitech Performance Mouse MX and K750 Wireless Solar Keyboard. They work perfect after trying a few different models. I'm about 15 to 20 feet from the TV without any signal issues.
Turn speed and accuracy are much better if you're already accustomed to FPS's on PC. However, I keep a DS3 close for menu management and deployment sometimes. They disabled mouse scrolling in most of the menus in the last update, and choosing exactly which drop point with a mouse or keyboard isn't as precise (it tends to jump over points when pressing directions).
Also, you need to have power management for controllers disabled in the PS3 settings. Otherwise a prompt will appear when your controller goes to sleep, and you'll be unable to move until you've pressed the PS button and waited for it to reconnect (you'll probably be dead when it reconnects). |

hybrid style- DS3 controller in left hand and mouse in right hand. try it, you'll like it...i tried it for a joke and now i cant go back. it seems better while moving side to side, plus i can point click and kill. |

I use KB/M but when i look at movies of Controller people i notice that due to the slow rate of movement and the aim assist option, they have less issues from gun recoil...just an obervation, one that doesnt bother me because most controller people are dead before they get their aim adjusted.
The good ones with a controller flee the moment you hit their shields into cover and only shoot at something they are certain to kill, the bad ones stand still and try to outdamage you, while the KB/M user performs some Zig Zags while landing all bullets on target.
I wouldnt have been playing Dust if it didnt have KB/M support, i have no idea how you guys can play with it... |

Some play it quite well, actually. What I've noticed is the controller people who know their stuff can do really hurting long auto fire; they get the aim correct once and when they have a taste for blood, its not good to stay stationary to "get that last burst" on them. Overall, slow but really hurting when they get cue.
Mouse players tend to do the cs strafe and bursts to the head. I haven't seen a single masterful one quite yet. By masterful I mean the type I used to see in eurocup (low end competitive) cs. The standard there was "dead in one burst of 3 shots", and given the headshot damages in dust id expect most things to go down in less than a second to a masterful assault rifle. |
