Squads forming & Q Syncing-á
Squads are moving from 4 man to 6 man squads. This is cool, but what about adding players to a squad from Chat lists over just having to add them to contacts first. We all know Contact list takes to long to load for this and we all remove most those contacts after squad is formed.
An Icon (much like the one that goes on the pick of directors and CEOs) on pics of players currently in squad would be a great add to chat lists.
Painting targets with the R3 wheel should be made a bit easier to access and does not need to be so accurate to place.
Orders should be allowed to place any time you access the overhead map( ether dead or alive).
Once we have our Squads formed a Q sync Feature seem to be wanted by a number of the community, if this comes in to play how about adding a new Merc Game Mode for pure solo players?
These are the requests I hear from both my corp and some of the community, but I think we should talk about what we want as a whole. So what are your thoughts on Squads? |

So have a Squad member Flag type system. Agree |

Definately support the ability to set points on the overhead map whether dead or alive. Also, allowing squad members who aren't squad leaders to set points should be easy to do by simply allowing a small flag of a different color or something to appear on the map when they highlight that area. The only issue I see with this is people not doing what their squad leaders tell them to because they are to busy putting their own points down. Thats a team issue more than a game issue tho.
Besides that the rest seem like good additions and more options is a good thing :) |

Yeah the quick select wheel for the squad leader still bugs me. It's not quick for a start, having to press R3 whilst holding down R2 is cumbersome and awkward, and then actually selecting the right command is sometimes a bit stiff too.
A simple way to make it a bit easier would be to move the directions of the 4 commands on the wheel. Right now they're all in 1 corner, between the (to use a clock example) 12 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions, when really you could move say, attack to the 12 position, defend to the 3, rally to the 6 and capture to the 9, and make the gaps between them all bigger so you don't need to be quite so precise when selecting them.
Alternatively, merge the attack and capture orders together, and instead make it a general "deal with this threat" order. If you're on coms with your squad (and really, why wouldn't you be?) then you can easily specify over voice which you actually want them to do, but it would save the hassle of having to select a specific order.
Additionally, the rally order could be moved entirely and made more useful (in my experiance, nobody uses this for anything, probably because it gives no wp and is like all the other commands, slow to place). Battlefield games had a great system for spotting enemies when you're in ADS, by pressing select to mark them for others, maybe rally could be done the same way, just ADS and press select, or R2 once and ping, rally wherever you were pointing at. For rallying somewhere out of sight then use the map.
So really, by merging 2 commands on the wheel and getting rid of one of them entirely to make it easier to activate, we'd really only have 2 commands we'd ever need to select from the wheel, defend and "deal with threat" (needs a better name, suggestions?) Hell, with only these 2 commands we could do away with a seperate command wheel entirely and just add them both to the weapons/equipment menu, just move them over to the other side where there's all that empty space.
Anyway, just a few suggestions.
EDIT; oh, and an improved lock on feature would be nice, right now you have to really precise, which isn't easy when you're trying to continue moving. |

#1 priority is to add an invite to squad option when clicking on a player anywhere in chat channels. shouldn't be too hard to add. Stupid contact list is stupid |

I'd like a Squad Advertisement system with standing filters like EVE. I can form a squad, open it up, and people in my Alliance can just join on their own. I hated having people "X" up for fleet invites all those years ago in EVE, I don't think we should take steps backwards in another EVE-based game.
Same goes for the chat icons. Chat windows in EVE have standings and corp/fleet membership flags, don't know why Dust doesn't.
Lol, the game is only open beta fora couple weeks and already there's a "10,000 paper cuts - give me all your small things!" thread. I love it. |

The reason Corp Battles award no SP/ISK beyond what the contract is set at is to prevent two organized teams from simply agreeing to exploit the game together and standing there with militia gear and nanite injectors, killing/reviving until the timer expires. This is one of the reasons why I don't believe having full teams of one corp, where you're rewarded for kills in terms of SP/ISK, should ever be allowed. It's too open to abuse.
That said, the corp battles stuff really needs to be improved to allow for matchmaking more easily. Fighting as a team is cool, but CCP shouldn't be enabling people to exploit so easily. And in fact, any queue synching should be prevented as much as possible, such as by disallowing more than 6 people from a given corp/alliance from ever being on the same team together. |
