As everyone else has already said, easily the most common Scout alternative is a Shotgun Scout. By using the Scout's superior movement speed and jumping height, one can lay the smack down on a group of unprepared enemies, especially with the right equipment. I definitely recommend Flux Grenades for any kind of Scout suit that does CQC, as it strips any enemy of all their shields, leaving only armour to get through.
Using a Scout in a role like this, though, means you can't just Rambo it up. You're still wearing paper-thin armour and shields, so you have to act accordingly. First rule, whatever the situation, do not assault any one from the front. In fact, that's a rule better used for DUST in general, but the heavier suits can get away with breaking it sometimes. Scouts, however, cannot. Always flank, always ambush, always surprise. You never want an enemy to know your location. If you see someone looking at you, run.
I seriously recommend Remote Explosives for any objective game mode, simply because you can throw them down in front of the objective, hack it, then leave. Next time you see that objective begin to flash, just hit the button and the area is secured. If you do it enough, enemies will eventually learn to just stop going to that objective, and will start going somewhere else.
Module-wise, it's your choice. For low slots, you can go with Codebreakers to make a stealthy hacker, in which I would say focus on Clone Reanimation units first and foremost, so your teammates can spawn behind enemy lines and flank them. Or Profile modules for either detecting other enemies better or making your yourself harder to detect. I personally run with Kinetic Catalyzers to make me even faster and a CPU upgrade to fit everything on there.
In terms of weapons, really, any CQC weapons will do, but the shotgun could very will be the best. As a backup, I like the submachine gun in general, but if you invest enough skills I feel Nova Knives could eventually be effective as a stealth weapon, especially considering apparently they're doing something with them in the next build. But as they are now, the standard Nova Knives really only one-shot Militia dropsuits and you have to be practically groping them in order to do that much, when you could have just shot him with your shotgun earlier and be done with it.
TL;DR: Use a shotgun, Flux Grenades, always be stealthy, Remote Explosives in Skirmish, |
