It would seem that the Guristas Pirate faction extracted at least one jump freighter full of what are likely Dust Mercenaries from the surface of Vellaine III (which is where all of the non corp battles in Dust have been occurring).

I'm guessing this is part of the open beta roll-out. It sounds like it was nearly scuppered by Eve players, though, since every single Guristas ship except the freighter (which was likely invulnerable) was wiped out by capsuleers.
Curious to see what happens next, although I'm disappointed that it isn't rogue drones. |

one of the devs posted on a thread in the last day or so that the missions are going to follow the events, for example like we're seeing here gurista's vs caldari. and as the events change the faction's hiring will change as well
