How do you guys feel about the detection system in this game? I feel like a lot of players get screwed over when everybody can see them coming at you with the little red arrow over your head or your sniper spot just got bombarded with nades. If the detection was a perk or skill specialty specifically set for a certain type of recon class or dropsuit I could understand, since it would be a specific role players could opt to specialize in to help their team.
Unfortunately that's not the case, Just now I've personally seen a lone scout infiltrate our supply drop and start hacking away, keep in mind he was completely hidden behind the Supply drop. I look over once and see nothing but a little red arrow and proceed to throw a cooked grenade over to him for his troubles. I shouldn't be able to see people hiding behind rocks or obstacles let alone across the map. The minimap is perfectly fine, being seen on the radar when running and shooting is no problem to me.
Snipers have it the worst since they require to sit at a good concealed vantage point and pick off people from afar, but as soon as I see a red triangle up in the sky that's not moving....I'm getting myself a free kill.
Sorry if this has already been brought up, but I'd like to here the rest of the players opinion on this. |

It's mostly based on line of sight in a shared network called the TACNET. Chances are someone else spotted that lone scout which could explain how you could see him. |

Ever been on one side of the map but see the chevron (that's the little red arrow you refrenced in your post fyi) of enemies on the other side of the map that you can't see this is because atleast one of your team had LoS on them |

People just need to learn how stealth in Dust works. |

It's a worse feeling when it's not a scout you're shooting at- it's an HAV which you can see, have 99% efficiency against, have the red dot directly over them, yet you still aren't hitting. And for the record, I was shooting with a large railgun at it. |

Please explain, people have said that the red triangles on the screen appear when a teammate has direct line of sight of the enemy and the data is sent over a shared network called TACNET(Thank you Maken Tosch).
This is a cool feature and fits the atmosphere but is it really suitable for actual gameplay for everyone to know where everyone is at? While with this explanation I could conclude that it is indeed still possible to actually not be seen given the right circumstances, but that would depend on the overall effectiveness this TACNET and it's effective range for picking up enemies is too high.
I really like the idea of putting this type of mechanic into a certain skill/class/dropsuit specifically designed for recon. Then again it is my own idea and I'm being a little biased .
or Maybe just reduce the range of the TACNET line of sight, or the range of which the red dots appear to you. |

AFAIK the TACNET is squad level, not team level. Even with it you can't know where everyone is at, and the stealth modules make sure of that.
I'm curious what the OP whine is gonna be about with detection though, will it be "These stealth modules make it harder for me to see!!!" or "These detection modules make it harder for me to remain unseen!!!"? |

Did you hear about profile dampening? No? Well go ahead and try them. At the end of a day a good player with a headset, a pair of good working eyes and situational awareness will find and kill you no matter how hard you have specced into profile dampening. All what is needed is that you fire your gun once. And sniper rifles make a distinct sound and are very easy to track down. Another thing is you can see the way of the projectile and make out the position of the sniper. In order to have any kind of benefit from profile dampening you would need a silenced weapon which dust doesnt has. |

The only reason he poped up as red is becuase someone else saw him. At that distance it requires direct sight, with the cross ahirs on him. Once one person sees him he lights up for your whole team.
If he's smart he'll get behind cover and pick a new spot so he can shoot while off the radar. There are skills to make it harder for someone to pin you. |

What skills are those? I'd really like to invest in them, the profile dampeners are not that great |

I've heard throughout the Beta that scouts are supposed to get a cloaking device (it's already OP I know), so there is that you can look forward to. |
