Let me try this again...
What happens if you were to make a Corporation name that makes it through any potential censor scan but that might at some future point be deemed objectionable by someone? I'm not talking about straight up profanity or racist comments. Say something along the lines of, oh, "VagInspectors" or "Doochasaurus" or "PoopShootProspectors".
Do you get the option to change the name or does the Corp get straight up deleted? What happens to any accrued Corp assets? Do you get placed in a random NPC Corp? |

Well, here is how it's handled in EVE Online, so expect the same approach for Dust: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Naming_policies#Corporation_names

What will happen is your corp will get renamed to "Corporation ID####". You will then have to put in a petition to suggest a new name, which will be changed at CCP's discretion. They won't take too kindly to obvious attempts at making offensive corp names, but sometimes people just don't realize, especially with language barriers.
The same thing can happen with character names.

This is my point. What is "obscene", "vulgar", "hurtful"? CCP cannot define it explicitly but I have the feeling they "know it when they see it."
Unfortunately the definition of obscene and vulgar varies drastically from person to person. (My filter is obviously set very, very high.)

CCP via http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Naming_policies#Corporation_names wrote: If a name is deemed inappropriate, GMGÇÖs may be able to change the characterGÇÖs name in some circumstances. This is solely at the discretion of CCP and/or its representatives based on, but not limited to, account and player history and the severity of the violation. There is no guarantee that the name will be changed. Only character names that are deemed as inappropriate are eligible for a possible name change.
Blatantly offensive names created in direct violation of the EVE Online Terms Of Service and the User and Character Name Policy will not be eligible for name change approval under any circumstances. These characters and their assets will be immediately deleted upon discovery and disciplinary action may be taken against the playerGÇÖs account.
Again, what would be "blatantly offensive"?
Seems there is no real answer. It would all come done to the decision and opinion of a MOD at CCP. |

How will they change it? Will it be like "minmatar slave corp #..." like player names, or will they talk to the leaders first? |

we have a winner
Some people may believe that sounds "unfair", but the honest truth is nobody really cares if some guy can't name himself "i'm14andthisisfunnypoopbuttslol". The thread he creates on the forums about how he was unfairly persecuted will be entirely filled with people laughing at him.
The people being paid to make these decisions have far, far more important things to do than engage in a never-ending argument about what exactly it means to offend somebody, or establishing every possible unacceptable combination of letters in a name
"Ok, so XXXX is offensive, but what if I change it to XXXY? What? None of my friends think thats offensive!" |

My favourite part is where the members that join a corporation with one of those "questionable" names are also subject for deletion for knowingly joining a corporation named PoopShootProspectors.

I would imagine that it would be more important to consider the impression your corporation name makes on prospective employers.
Just as you are free to tattoo your face in the real world you have to expect a certain reaction from potential employers.
If a DUST corp doesn't take itself seriously there is a good chance that the EvE side won't either. |

Goonswarm might get a chuckle out of a report that says "Today Goonswarm took system xyz with the aid of their mercenary force PoopShootProspectors", and if that's your employer of choice it may be a great name. That would fall under the "consideration" I mentioned.
However if you wanted a wider choice of employers you might take their point of view into consideration as well. |
