Okay so there used to be a formula that ONCE HELD TRUE. But no longer does after CCP changed the SP costs sometime after August so i wont put it in here. What i did was using the marketplace for items that unlocked items at each level or using skill i had spent and looking at the cost of the next level i was able to create tables for the cost of most of the multipliers with minimal gaps.
Hopefully a math whiz will read this and be able to figure out how they exactly work in terms of a formula and if a GM/Dev reads this if you could please sticky that will be of benefit to the whole community I think.
Before we begin i would like to note the one constant i have found when i added up the totals is that the SUM OF LEVELS 1-4 for ANY MULTIPLIER will = the SP cost of LEVEL 5. I hope that with this constant and the numbers ive provided for the skill multipliers someone can figure out the missing numbers and i can finish it out.
Also here is a link to a post with all the current skills in the game and their multipliers for your reference, not sure if this is still current but one can always use the ALL SKILL tab under the skill section of the character sheet menu to confirm and double check

Edit Thank you Rustonius for his links i will place them here as they are an even better resource than what ive provided. Awesome job on doing this, i searched the forums and never found it, maybe i missed the sticky.

Simply put 1x skill all levels base cost for each level. so to figure out the rest take the relevant 1x skill level and multiply it by your desired multiplier
I.E. a level 5 12Xs costs 1865520
155,460 x 12 = 1,865,520
The skills are constant set at the multipliers to avoid random amounts for different skills. |

Where are you getting the 155,460 from? |

The 5th level of a x1 skill costs that so on a skill that costs 12 times what the 1x costs...
See where im going? If you multiply the 1st level on a x1 by 10 you get the cost of the first level of the 10x skill or you should I think some of your numbers are wrong. |

This is what I've figured out (there seems to be a bit of SP added or taken away to even things out, but it's a very small amount)
Lvl V costs the total amount of SP required for Lvl 1-4. For a 1x skill: 6200 + 18650 + 43530 + 87060 = 155440. There's that extra 20 SP I mentioned.
Lvl IV is twice the SP required for lvl III.
Lvl III is twice the SP required for lvl II plus the SP required for lvl I ( 43530 * 2 ) + 18650 = 87040. Extra 20 SP again
Lvl II is 3 times the SP required for lvl I with a little bit of fudging.

none of my numbers are wrong since they were pulled directly from the marketplace for an item that requires a skill with the appropriate skill multiplier involved.
For instance dropsuits are 8x each level, each level unlocks an item so the marketplace states the SP cost of that particular level.
I double checked each of these numbers there and also since i have skills placed in certain skills i was able to extrapolate the data based on what i had already spent and what the cost of the next level was cross referenced with a skill that had no skill in it and found skills in the market that had level 1 or 2 listed.
I assure you my data gathering methodology was sound and the SP numbers listed are 100% accurate.
Which is why i dont think any of the old formulas hold true after the wipe after August.
For instance this forumla used to be correct
L(x)=Lvl cost(x=1) where L(x) = cost of level and x equals the level at which you want to skill. No longer holds true. |

gunner take a look at
skill point/rank-levels
also look at the stickies above, which would lead you to goody links that includes a link to skill point charts. |

No, only the SP required for lvl I roughly follows that pattern. It takes approximately 4 times the SP to get a 4x skill to lvl I than it does for a 1x. After that simply multiplying any level by the skill's multiplier no longer applies.

Sat down and figured this out last night.
The base number for all skills at level 1 is 6,220 sp
Use the multiplier on each skill to find the SP cost of the first level.
I figured the rough multiplier to be for a x1 skill to be as follows
x1/ x4/ x11/ x25/ x50 or
6,220/ 24,880/ 68,420/ 155,500/ 311000
For levels 1-5 respectivly
These are the "rough" multipliers as the actual multipliers are more like
x1/ x3.99-/ x10.99- ect....
If you want to figure out what the multiplier will be for higher "skill multipliers" like grenadier(x4), it will look like this:
x4/ x16/ x44/ x100/ x200 or
24,880/ 99,520/ 273,680/ 622,000/ 1,244,000 sp for levels 1-5 respectively
Just remember to get a ROUGH idea of the SP you need to get to the level you want, all you have to do is multiply the base multiplier for each level by the multiplier of the skill then take your product and multiply it by 6,220
X=skill multiplier Y=level
X * Y * 6,220 = SP needed
I really hope I don't confuse anyone, I understand it....lol |

Already did what you've asked for Nightingale.
My SP tracker and Skill Planner thread here
It's not gotten much notice and has dropped several pages. I'm starting to feel the effort was wasted.
The actual document also includes all the formulas for skill multipliers and SP required/spent calculations. |

Great work all. Anything to further our knowledge of the game like this is much appreciated. :)
Just an observation but Gunner Nightingale your very first sp number is incorrect. Level 1 of a 1x skill is 6220 sp not 6200. I have not verified every other sp amount but I do know that one to be a mistake in case you want to edit and fix it. That coupled with any other typos may be throwing people off in their calculations.
The Google Doc seems correct. |
