See the way lag switches work, ya can find this out yourself on the internet, but what a lag switch does is cut out your upload so for a second you stop sending data to the servers. This works extremely well in P2P games like halo because it causes lag for everyone. Games that aren't however you would simply see them ghosting around. That said ITS IMPOSSIBLE to do in dust. Why is that you ask? Simple CCP are smart, much like the creators of MAG or any Sony exclusive really safe guards have been put in that auto kick you from the game the second your upload speed drastically decreases while your download speed remains the same. Don't believe me? Go to a hardware store, pick up some cheap supplies and inexpensive HDMI cable, should cost you 15-20 bucks tops. Then look online for the MILLIONS of lag switch tutorials, make yourself a lag switch and then test it. You will see that it does not work. CCP and Sony are allot smarter than that.
I know many of you new blueberries are use to Halo 1-4 where you are use to lag switchers all day everyday. Well guess what this isn't Bungie, or Microsoft. These guys are experienced and intelligent game designers that care about gamer's and the gaming community first. They care about the quality of the game and aren't just trying to leech money off players that don't know any better like Microsoft and Bungie. So do some research next time you go making false claims. I know you are probably new and all so try not to make a habit of it in the future, mmk?
I'm not hear to discredit your post. In fact, I salute you for the information you provided in regards to how lagswitching works and this is something everyone should know about so that future accusations of lagswitching in Dust can be ignored.
But I want to point out that Bungie left Microsoft after Halo Reach (which was shortly after Halo 3). 343 Industries later took control and developed Halo 4. That's all I wanted to point out.
But yeah, unlike Microsoft, Bungie, and 343, the Icelandic company known as CCP Games cares about the players. CCP is no stranger to lag. In fact, Google search the words "CCP" and "War On Lag" in the same sentence and you will see that they have worked for 10 years trying to deal with lag which is something every MMO developer had to suffer. |
