Hi! So I finally plugged in my WMO, but I'd like to know if the PS3 USB ports support 500 hz.
I've seen people saying it's only 100 hz, and others who say 1,000. Any way I can test it, or can someone confirm what the polling speed is? |

It's 100 Hz.
If you're using GimX then you want the highest polling rate and DPI but we're not using GimX.
For Dust try lowering the report rate and increasing the DPI. |

Ah, thanks. I love my WMO, but I noticed it was >.< (I thought it felt like 125 hz, so thx for 100 hz confirmation) on PS3. I was thinking about trying a Razer because it has higher default polling speeds, or lets you set them higher. I couldn't figure out how to change the default USB speed on my PS3, and just figured that wasn't an option. It's a pain in the ass on Windows 7, so on PS3... lol.
I guess the PS3's CPU can't handle anything above the speed of PS/2, A CONNECTER DESIGNED FOR MICE IN 1987. //rage
Higher DPI might be good for turret speed. I know it was slow on my mouse. The controller rotated the turret much faster than the mouse. On a related note, I think the sensitivity settings for the mouse are perfect. I wish the sensitivity on the controller could be higher.
I'll probably forget about the Razer if I can't increase the polling speed. There's no point. |

You might want to look at this thread in a forum discussing building things that pretend to be Dual Shock controllers.
If I understand it correctly the Dual Shock registers itself with the PS3 as a 1000 Hz device but only delivers data at 100 Hz. The PS3 firmware sets the USB polling rate at 1000 Hz. So from the point of view of the USB subsystems it could gather data at 1000 Hz.
That being said, the point about the rest of the PS3 or the games running on it being able to use the data at that rate is an open issue.
