CCP needs to realize that there is a huge audience out there that doesnt want the hassle of dealing with a p.c. The more accessible the game is through just using the ps3, the greater their playerbase.
Edit: of course i think this is a lesson that even sony hasnt learned yet. |

As soon as people figure out how to send around links to virus sites while saying they are links to the promotion site this will come to a sudden halt.
Doing it through PSN is the much smarter option in my opinion. |

Some folks can't pull their head out of their azs to think sometimes. I was merely trying to convey that the idea the OP brought up wasn't lost on most people. No reason to start name calling like a douche. I have 0 email addresses of my friends on PSN and I'm fairly certain I'm not alone. |

After you click the link, sign in and then click the links below, it posts it right to your Facebook page. |

They actually posted the announcement earlier today, so I don't see any lack of communication here.
Anyway, I'm not sure how it is supposed to work on a PS3, but it is not necessary to actually email the link - just click the email button, then copy the link in the message and paste wherever you want. Once again, not sure if this works in PS3 browser. |

My first reaction was close to that expressed in the OP.
But then I thought back to the lead up to the release of Dark Souls (console game born and bred) and remembered that they did a lot of promotional stuff through the official website, face book, etc. and word got around through social media, all of the different wiki sites, fan sites, and so on, and that there was a ground swell of anticipation for the game's release.
And there was nothing that I can recall that specifically promoted the game through PSN.
The thing about marketing done outside of PSN is that the buzz will be tracked through and amplified by social media... And we all know that something does not exist until it shows up significantly on social media and makes noise through twitter posts, youtube views, facebook likes, google something or other, etc.
PSN is invisible to the world of social media and CCP need to get this game noticed out in the world. Battlefield 3 had posters on bus stops where I live. I don't remember seeing anything on PSN about BF3 even though I was logging on at least once a week around that time. So even if there was a promotion, some of the other media that announced the game just stuck out more readily.
So no, I don't think they are crazy. But it would be nice to see some promotions through PSN and Playstation Home, etc. as well. |
