A lot more so with #1 and a little bit of #2
I think you guys are being a little biased here, I don't hope to change your opinion on the subject and I'm not saying anyone's opinion here is wrong. Honestly, I could live quite happily if the HG was left alone but for arguments sake....
From my time with the game, the Heavy Gunner is not as OP as some people are exaggerating him to be. I'll admit at first I thought it was completely ridiculous that such a class existed but over time I got a better perspective of the whole picture as well as understand the game better. Heavy Gunners are not OP but they are definitely better than they should be, when a single class is dominating the game as often as HG's do, it would be logical to think something is not quite right.
I personally don't know what exactly to tweak(Not nerf) with the HG to have him still fulfill his role and not be such a dominant force on the battle field.
I've thought of a couple but I see flaws in them and would most likely fail in the end. I'll share them anyway though.
1.) Heavy Gunners have to kneel down in order to fire their minigun, if anyone has played gears of war they know what I'm referring to. If possible you could also have them emulate the take cover and fire mechanic that Gears of War has well. This would allow them to still defend or control certain hotspots and objectives but are now more prone to nades like they should be and cannot run around while spraying everyone down. Heavy's should be the type of character 2 or 3 guys follow for support, the Heavy Gunner Distracts and draws enemy fire while providing cover fire, the others flank, push the enemy back or capture objectives. Right now the Heavy just walks into enemy fire and isn't worried at all since he knows if he's going down he's taking 2 or 3 guys with him.

2.) Heavy Gunners should have a little symbol above their head indicating their an HG, as is, their presence is a dominant one, let that presence be known...
3.) Simply reduce the accuracy on the minigun
I am prepared for the incoming hate I've set myself up to receive but before you do post your negative and rude comments cursing me to the darkest depths of hell, ask yourself..."Who cares?" |
