One of the problems on the field is resupply and refit, obviously largely dealt with by nanohives. But all the same, why not give dropship drivers a capacity to do a drop-resupply on a combat area?

Dropship comes down over infantry, drops the troops and blows a container pack of nanohives that scatters ammo resupplies over a short area. These resupplies would by necessity, NOT last as long as a nanohive, perhaps a minute at most, or ten cycles of ammunition per hive rather than the 70+ we have now. but long enough for a team of mercs to refit and get ready to pick up and hit the next drop point. Put a timer on the ability to blow the hives again and we might have a wiener.

of course the idea could be horribly unbalanced and prone to stupid abuses. In which case I approve mightily.
