Because it doesn't make much sense to me.
Obviously you aren't supposed to get into a proper Drop Suit right away or add a second type because 425K is tough to crack in the beginning. While later it isn't the addition SP that goes into Drop Suit Command isn't bad but each type cost 50K SP. Two days work each.
And some items in the same group are 99K but others are 270K.
What's up with that?
Has CCP left any clues are has someone previously figured it out? |

Train time multiplier (x1, x2, x4 etc) the higher that is the more expansive the skill book.
edit: 400k is 4-5 matches in a militia ds... also about the amount of skill points needed to upgrade it :) |

That is what I thought.
However, Turret Operations Skill Book is 48K and the Vehicle Command Skill Book 90K while the Sidearm Rapid Reload Skill Book is 72K. These are all in ISK and each skill is at training level 1.
Based on the Training Level the SP can be calculated or at least the starting point and each addition level seems to follow a standard increase. But Skill Book Purchase is ... all over the map. Which is why I posted in the first place. |

Importance is what it seems to go by. A bit of a combination in x# and importance. The driving skill is of higher usefulness then turret skill. Rapid reload has higher importance then mag size. |

The race specific specializations such as minmatar logistics suit, amarr heavy suit tend to be high price. The base skill for each grouping such as vehicle command, weaponry, dropsuit command are always cheap.
Also as your progress into the second and third tear skills (the ones that require other skills to use) those tend to get more expensive and require more SP. |

425k ISK is 2 matches, 3 at most. So after a max of 3 matches you can get either of the Heavy/Scout/Assault/Logistics to level 1. |

True, even a noob should be able to get 425K in five matches at most.
I was interested in compiling a list of what it took to get where I wanted. While the SP is mostly understandable the Skill Book pricing is just nuts. The SP moves around some as well even to the point where some seem like somebody entered the wrong value in a table. |

You should have more isk than you need to buy skill books. SP cap is much smaller than how much you make.
If you're dying so much that you don't have isk to spare, use the free suits. My alt runs around in a free suit with just militia gear and KLOs, and he usually does fine. I kind of wrecked my kdr on him by trying militia pistol with no points in pistol for a bit, but now that I have points it's awesome. I can make a few mil before SP cap.
btw, in almost all situations the AR is better. I just use a pistol because it's fun and I can.
edit: staying isk efficient is important. If you can't afford to run a suit or vehicle in every game you play, you shouldn't be using it until you get better.
edit edit: i'm sure I or someone else will write down all the prices once open beta hits. Right now it's kind of tough because prices might change. |
