I watched the corporation contracts for people that accepted one half of a contract, marked the system/planet/time and then moved a small fleet there. We had alts in both Gal and Cald militia in orbit so we could do either side, just to see if it was possible. It was ZionTCD on the Gal side, and I'm-not-sure-who-else on the Cald, but I definitely bombed the crap out of some Zion guys.
I then waited for another half of a contract to appear, marked it down, went to that planet and when the contract disappeared, I assumed the opposing force accepted. But... nothing happened. No link to the surface, nothing to bombard. This happened two more times.
My question is: do these matches get cancelled if no one accepts the defense side? Is it possible for the attackers to cancel the match?
Also, I noticed there is price variations on these matches, some 150K, some over 1M for collateral, what dictates the price of the match?
Thanks for any information. |

The system is broken, it needs to be changed or no one is going to defend. |

Yes, the matches get cancelled if no one accepts the defend contract.
Well, not just cancelled. The status of the district remains unchanged, I think, but the ISK ante does not get refunded to the corp wallet.
If a corp shows up to take a district and no one bothers to defend it they should win by default. Not lose (basically, since nothing happens and the district just stays what it used to be, though I could be wrong on this) and have their money taken away.
Right now so called Corporation contract battles are really just a way to make ISK vanish for no good reason. Well except trying to get OBs, or being able to play with a full 8 person team of all same corp. mates.
But other than to satisfy curiosity and fight only with people in your corporation on your team it is much better not to accept a contract or even initiate one in the first place. Hopefully the current system is just a placeholder. |

Wow, that sounds pretty depressing.
If i can get my corp together, I'd love to jump into these once open beta goes live. Now that I have an alt in Cald militia and a corpmate with an alt in gal militia, I'll have plenty of OB support options... provided I get the WP required.
And that's another thing that irks me, if we have people in orbit, it should open a separate type of bombardment that's based on cooldown time instead of WP. Otherwise the EVE players (myself included) will just get impatient and not want to help anymore. It'll be relegated to alts of Dust players only, not really that deep of a connection IMHO.
Edit: here's the FRAPS of my OBs |
