Assault Rifles: please give them the scopes back, or implement "attachments" asap. i dunno who it was that was asking for iron sights, or why, but i suspect it had something to do with realism.
Realism: In the future, please ignore any person who supports their arguments with realism. You're selling a PERSISTENT shooter, not a realistic one. personally i'd like it to be a GOOD persistent shooter, i don't give a crap about it being a realistic persistent shooter.
Grenades: they were cookable before, so making them all essentially come pre-cooked is a bit much.
HMGs: These do seem to be making a strong comeback, but i think at least PART of the reason is because the old tactic for mitigating them (keep them at range) is slightly less effective since the most prolific weapon (the assault rifle) has been made LESS effective at range? (via the loss of it's scope.)
Mass driver: they're all over, and they're incredibly annoying. The grenade launcher is pretty much the thing everybody hates in every shooter. it is THE troll gun. Why was this ever implemented? never mind BUFFED? if players think your grenade launcher is underpowered, it's probably perfect.
Forge gun: Why do these still deal splash damage? do to these what you did to the swarm launcher so we can talk about getting them up to par against vehicles, like they're meant to be used against.
I'd also like to see the movement penalty removed. (or downgraded, standard and assault would have no mobility penalty, breach would have the current standard penalty) my reasoning: why is a forge gun actually good; as in, in what situation would you ever choose to use it as an AV weapon over a swarm launcher or an AV grenade? limited ammo and "stuff that's far away" rules out AV grenades for plenty of situations, but what about forge gun vs. swarm launcher? At extreme range the forge gun becomes unreliable due to it's hipfire only nature, and lack of guidance. at shorter ranges it becomes valid, but i still present the question, why use it OVER a swarm launcher? At mid-short ranges it becomes valid, but you need line of sight for either weapon. what the forge gun SHOULD allow you to do is charge behind cover, step out, and quickly fire. (charge time VS swarms lock time is roughly equivalent, but with the forge you don't need line of sight the ENTIRE time. thus you are exposed to less deadly deadly tank fire.) you can see how mobility, especially mobility while charging/holding a charge is crucial for this task. The heavy is already slow, combining that with a further movement penalty whenever you're using your forge gun makes this tactic slow, and simply less valid (as you have to be deep enough in cover to not get splashed to death, it's more than one or two paces we're talking about)
Finally, i suggest reverting the forge gun crosshairs and spread to the old (really old at this point. many a build ago) horizontally aligned rectangle/oval, as opposed to the current square/circle. consider the cross section of ALL the current vehicles. in most situations they are much WIDER than they are tall. infantry on the other hand, are almost always taller than they are wide. even a squatting heavy just about breaks even. so this would have the dual effect of improving the forge gun as an AV weapon, while weakening it as an anti-infantry weapon.
this bit is not a balance issue so much as a playability upgrade, but: I'm sure we would all love some system to get more of us into a match. I understand the need to protect the solitary and the newbies, but it cannot be at the expense of the veterans and the large groups. ESPECIALLY in this game. you're selling persistent galactic war on a scale that gives us all nerd-boners, yet we can't play with more than 3 friends unless we SCHEDULE our war with the opponent? That's awful nice of us...
a little positive feedback: the game feels more stable lately. only had 1 gamebreaking "invalid fitting" glitch, and the market tends to not load infinitely anymore. i did have a boatload of disconnects today but i'm willing to chalk that up to the PSN maintenance. |

I'm not going to lie I think gernades are just broken. I tried cooking one so I could strafe out of cover and throw it. I held it down for 2 seconds tops, and when I threw it, the thing blew up in my face!
Also forge guns do not have splash. But it has a big giant projectile. And if it hits you, you die. If they do have splash I've never seen it come into play. Hitting even a foot to left of someone and you won't deal any damage. |

2 meter splash. with the sights its still a hail mary to hit a dropsuit with it past 50m.
And to answer the OP with a little patience, a forge gun will eat a stupid tank driver alive and scare off smart tankers. You can use it as an area denial weapon vs. Vehicles. plus when it hits, its pretty moch like eating a swarm or two all at once. Im much more efficient killing vehicles with forgeguns than I ever was with a swarm

My forgegun disagrees with you. I also disagree that vehicles should be able to LOLroll with impunity. If the only counters to tanks are another tank or an orbital strike, then the game isnt worth playing. Especially when heavies were (in theory) designed by concept to be able to attack tanks effectively.
Plus I can still one shot your sissyass bumpercars LAV.
Edit: And I am captain-effing-new-eden.

You missunderstand were the game is at at the moment, the vehicles people are driving right now is the LOWEST grade of vehicle. You should not drive a militia LAV with heavy weapons around and expect to live. It sucks I know. But a proto LAV has the same survivability as a tank. You want to live, skill that stuff.
When the game progresses and the advances and pro to vehicles start rolling your going to wish you hadn't cried nerf on you teams anti vehicle guys.
EDIT: I use a forge gun, and LAVs are actually quite hard to hit unless you make yourself sniper bait, are right on top of it or its not moving. Tank drivers worth their salt, won't sit and let a forge gun users fire the six or seven shots required to kill a tank. |

Firstly, how exactly? awesome critique!
Second, no it's not. If you want a realistic game, go play a sim... they exist. there's a reason none of us are playing Americas Army. you might think you want realism, but consider the REALITY of war? i submit that nobody wants reality in their games, what they actually want is convincing fantasy. which has nothing to do with how much damage a weapon should do, or whether we look through a dot sight or iron sights when we ADS in our space shooter game.
Third, I do. firefox has one built in. so wtf are you talking about? (btw, i fixed your typo in my quote of you, so you're welcome)

Seriously? Persistent means that the game keeps on ticking when you're logged off, it doesn't have anything to do with realism. It's like having an argument "please ignore anyone telling you diesel will be more fuel efficient in this case, you want your car to be a orange coupe, not a diesel!"

No offense to the OP but why does every shmuck think we need to hear about the "impressions and Suggestions"? Why does everyone feel the need to write a review on a game that hasn't been released. If you have an opinion about one this make a topic on that. Not a review of the game so far as you see it.

To me it's simply: that's what we're here to do. we were brought in to test and provide feedback. I care about the game and want it to be a success.
not everybody has to provide feedback of course. you need enough players to fill out games so CCP can collect data from the servers and so those who would write up their thoughts can actually play. so just playing helps the process, but if we have ideas for how the game could be improved, and we went out of our way to sign up for this, why wouldn't we express them?
obviously i'm just some ******* guy, but so is everybody else. you don't have to agree with me, but at least i try to present a case with my suggestions as opposed to just "it's gay/takes no skill, change it!"
(not joking, I've seen people use "it's gay" as their argument on these forums...) |

Another vehicle nerf? **** no. I'm sick and tired of people complaining that they can't kill with a forge gun or swarms, when I didn't even skill into it and trump vehicles all the time. Besides, damage mods are broken, so you can make those forges have like 6k damage, so I don't get why your saying that their not good enough.
