What do you think CCP has got planned for the heavy dropsuit? I know they are making changes but i dont know if it will be negative or positive..
It could be lowering the armour and shield values or fixing the proto heavy, maybe making it less expensive or adding another low power slot.

they need to build value into the advanced and proto versions. Right now, it's not worth going past type 2 suit. So, I think more slots are on their way to the heavy. |

So nerf fatsuits to not buff proto suits.

silliness aside (looking at you Sha) an equipment slot seems reasonable, such a big suit and we have no pockets? The rate at which we deal damage seems fine but considering our role on the battlefield and our supposed description of being "walking tanks", (walking fish tanks more like at the moment!) - HP buff definitely in order at least in higher end suits |

The proto heavy suit should be feared by men and vehicles alike. Especially at that price.
An over all buff to the proto heavy is all that would be needed. Leave the rest of the suits as is but add
1 add Another low slot allowing for 3 low and 3 high 2 a significant base hp increases both shield and armor 3 increase in CPU/pg 4. Make the suit worth the 250,000 to field in a match.

An equipment slot ? More low slots ? Heavies are beast enough already. Truth is that atm they are kind of an easy mode suit. Main reason for this is the last movement nerf that made outmaneuvering them a pain in the ass and the silly big boost given to HMGs range and insta-accuracy. Also Heavies have a slower turn rate on purpose Only it is of no importance as now, assault and scouts are slow as a dead snail.
Nothing ever hurt dust 514 more than those successive movement nerf. And for what reason ? Coz people obviously cant aim at a moving target or use straffing effectively as a defensive mechanics.
Thus why there are more and more heavy\AR or heavy\HMG dudes that do nothing but rush at dude while pray and spraying. Worst part ? It's actually effective. |

I wouldn't object to a proto suit getting a single equipment slot and maybe an extra low slot. I don't use them but even I can see there's nothing you can't fit on the advanced suit at much less cost.
The assault suit gets an extra equipment slot at proto level and extra module slots depending on which type.
And as proto suits are more aimed at the lowsec/corp/more important battles, they aren't likely to be running solo anyway, they'll have logistics support in these battles, so giving them an equipment of their own shouldn't make too much difference. |

I'd have to agree with this. Heavies need no buff whatsoever. A heavy able to equip a repairing nanohive is just too damn solopwnmobile.
Proto suits are fine, you use them for the grid/CPU/extra slots, and usually only for the random officer's gear you get. I think the current small increases in effectiveness for large increases in ISK is exactly appropriate for balance.
Quote:Thus why there are more and more heavy\AR or heavy\HMG dudes that do nothing but rush at dude while pray and spraying. Worst part ? It's actually effective.
Because it's exclusively what the suit is designed to survive. Beefy + fat + slow = toe to toe.
I hate having to instruct people on how to kill me, but use range. Don't rush a heavy, you have the speed to control the range of battle. I only have the element of surprise and effective cover use to begin the fight in CQC, I don't have the speed to keep it there.

No, I didn't think you would want that and neither do I...
You say there's a small increase in effectiveness going from advanced to proto heavy? Lolz, that increase is non-existant. The B-Series heavy is all you ever need right now.

To each their own, I suppose. The extra 85 armor and upgraded repper I could pack into a Heavy B suit certainly didn't feel laughable.
I think the expectation of "I trained up to this suit so now I'm going to use it every match" is wrong. Whip out the good stuff when you're in a squad that really knows what they're doing, or when you're playing for keeps, like corp contracts.
I'll probably be running around in Heavy Type-I & II and Skinweave Logi more than anything else for as long as I play the game, but I still see the value in the higher tier suits. And honestly, I think it should be that way. The diminishing ISK-to-power return feels like balance to me, rather than "richest/highest SP mofo always wins." |

Heavies are amazingly good and so are HMGs. I'd anticipate a nerf, personally. Probably a serious reduction in durability, but maybe a high/low slot or two given to higher tier heavy suits.
Booker DaFooker wrote:silliness aside (looking at you Sha) an equipment slot seems reasonable, such a big suit and we have no pockets?
No, it doesn't. Heavies not being able to be self-sufficient is their primary limitation right now. No injectors or hives is a big negative to an otherwise overwhelmingly good suit. Giving heavies equipment would be pretty silly with how things are balanced currently.

Honestly no, as a Heavy im ok with that idea of making the dropsuit more restrictive. some one a few days back suggested that heavies loose the ability to hack. for more power grid, CPU, and another high, low. Maybe 200 more EHP base and +2 damage per round to advanced and proto HMG . I would not only trade my ability to hack but also carry more then 900 rounds AND pilot my own LAV. (Yes, Every heavy would need a driver or be forced to hoof it)
It would clean a lot of these lone wolf heavies (myself included) from the field because of the vulnerability the suit would have, with out adequate support.
EDIT; you could probably just give us a specialist version of the HMG that does more damage but has a restricted ammo hold. |

i agree with this.
but in regards to all dropsuits when you go up a tier. CCP is really good at tweaking and giving us better variations like shield heavy/armor heavy with more slots and CPU/PG . Giving each suit advantages over the previous is important. You want my ISK you gotta EARN it.
I've run speed-assault all my FPS life but ended up biting the bullet and going heavy because our corp didnt have enough. The Heavy is balanced its just unseen in FPS. Its a slow tank DPS whereas most games allow everyone essentially the same HP. People are still adjusting to this change.
I also have to agree with it NOT getting an equip slot either. Its not about adding stuff that suits us individually its about balancing the game as a whole. CCP is doing a great job with this overall they just need a lil more fine tuning. |

Well I totally realize that an equipment slot would be wishful thinking on my part but hey , one can dream right! My thinking was more along the lines of injectors for helping my squaddies or RE's just for pure buggerance! I can see how a heavy with a nanohive could be a worrying thought for others
Anyway, I think my main beef is how low survivability is with a heavy, I dont have too much problem with how the HMG is, especially once skilled up but what does grip my **** is dying in less time than it takes me to turn 90 degrees to see who's firing at me!
I mean, that's not lack of skill, I just dont have enough armour or manouverability to defend myself if you're not in my field of vision when you start firing!
I dont want to kill you more quickly, I want to survive long enough to try, heavy v AR should never be an even match, that's ridiculous unless at range which is fair enough
Oh, and as far as AV goes, well a heavy suit will get one shotted by a tank as often as not so it's not like we can stand up to a tank to get a shot in, we gotta duck and dive like the rest of you. Would be nice to think you could have a suit that can take some pounding from a tank as you battle them. The ability to carry mines or explosives for this task is also denied us
Dont even get me started on 2 sec nades, how far do you reckon i can run in 2 sec? less than the blast radius that's for sure! What's the point of a heavy armour suit if it cant survive 1 hit from the weakest grenade in the game? I's the only thing we are supposed to have going for us and it doesn't protect us from anything, it's not like us fat knackers are able to take evasive action, we have to take the hits and current HP does not cut it, certainly not on higher end suits
Look forward to completely NOT soaking up all those bullets with my name on them at a battlefield near you SOON tm!
Rant done

See, but that's exactly the state of the game, and why it's balanced.
A heavy should be expected to die in two situations: 1) he's outflanked or 2) he's outranged.
I usually play heavy, I usually die because of one of those two reasons, and when I'm fighting a heavy, that's how I kill him.

Which has never made any sense to begin with, HOW CAN A PIECE OF PAPER POSSIBLY DEFEAT ANY ROCK?! I understand what you're saying but this is the core of the argument. We are a rock, when a piece of paper blows through and turns a boulder into dust how does that make any sense? It's like someone else said earlier, instead of being a tank we are more like fish tanks right now. |

I had thought that the change may include a heavy carrying a Heavy, Regular, and sidearm weapon. It is hard to kill a heavy already, I hope that won't change, they need to be scary and deadly close range. I hate them for it but that is the nature of the game. I run with my fatties to rep/rez them and in turn they save me from all the people i couldn't finish off with my lazer. LR logibro and HEavy HMG is a great match. |

I think there should be more of a differentiation between the Type 1 and type 2 heavy suits. With the Proto Vk.1, for the price of the suit there should be the possibility of an equipment slot, but it should definitely have an additional low slot making it 3 Hi and 3 Low incorporated with the increased movement speed.
Should the fact that the suit is a shield tanker, doesn't it make sense to have a slightly expanded CPU and PG, much like the Type 2 Assault suit? The fact that every other variant of the current suits, the only difference between a type 1 and 2 is the distribution of shields and armor points along with a movement buff or nerf depending on the direction the suit is going away from the original type one. In the case of the Logi Type 2, it loses an equipment slot for added speed, but the HP distribution is flat between the two.
Back to the original discussion at hand, there should be a clearer distinction between the two, especially considering the hefty price tag of roughly 250,000 ISK per Vk.1 suit, that will encourage the use of said suit, let alone justify the price tag difference of close to 170,000 ISK between the Vk.0 and the Vk.1 suits.
As for a HP buff, for proto gear I think it would be reasonable to have a 7-10% base armor buff or a 10-15% shield buff depending on the suit focus (Type 1 gets the armor buff and the Type 2 gets the shield buff), which turns out to be about a 50 point buff on either end (specifically 45.5 on the armor at 10% and 48 on the shields at 15%). This would be applied before the application of skills and would in turn place added value to the skilling into and utilization of the suit when the skills and the finances allow it. Not to mention entice logi's to hold a tighter leash on their SP cow.
For the amount of armor that is dropped on the Type 2, one would think that a Type 2 would shed enough weight and gear to have an equipment slot .
