I think people shouldn't be able to orbital strike the spawn points in skrimish games that are in the red zone of the enemies. |

Then don't snipe or shoot your tank from there. |

I guess its both ways... you guys pin us in the corner so we have to un pin with tanks... guess there is no win win. On the other hand its called giving cover to the ground troops who rare trying to get the there ejective... and your snipers camp the red zone spawn... and everyone else once you have them pinned. |

Why would you think that is a good idea? Do you have any additional points to support this? As it currently stands, that idea amounts to being nearly invincible with little to no risk.
If you ask me, the red zones are too easy to camp in as it is. I would like to see a way to drop the red zone protection after a certain period or after a particular goal is reached. camping in the red zone is as bad as flying a free militia viper to the top of a tower every game and sitting there sniping. |

that was fun! sitting up top with a dropship call in an LAV for a defense order throw out a spawn point and nanohives and start making smores. |

and then someone gets smart, and does the same thing, just to kill you.
Although i imagine that happens not a lot at all. because most people don't bother sniper hunting. they're mostly a nuisance. |

The issue here is more about the redzone spawns being visible from the main battle. If you can't see their safe zone, you can't get shot from it OR get a clear-enough picture of the enemy to hit it with an OB. This is why some "bittervet" players from the early beta-invite waves want to see Craterlake return. Not only were the redzones well-hidden by the canyons (preventing sniping AND camping), but it allowed for flanking tactics and tiered, objective-based assault. Yes, that's right, there's already bittervet DUST players. Me included. Shall I tell you the story of the Swarm Launcher? You'll be glad you whippersnappers only have grenades to worry about. |

I don't think that OB in the Red Zone is the problem. Rather there is no "safe zone" as a spawn area. A place safe from Orbitals, Tanks, Snipers, etc. Sure there is the MCC, but nothing on the ground. Perhaps there is something for the commanders role to place down.
Thus far there is little to be done for a Red Zone trap. I personally hate the red zone. Don't even understand the reason behind it, the air of the enemy is somehow different? Is there a broadcast zone for clone control? While camping sucks there is yet to be a way to clear a path and setup a new plan of attack, especially with randoms.
Will a solution come? |
