Sadly, to ccp its not an AR which is a weapon that actually requires some skill to use so ccp won't listen to you. Telling the truth about broken stuff in dust will only get threads complaing about people like you complaining. |

When that baby heats up you merely need to glance a target and they're down.

The last part might be true, but there are such things as SMGs, Scramblers and not least EZ-mode nades that should be enough for those face to face encounters. If you're stuck in the open fireing at an AR wielder at medium range then you're obviously doing it wrong.
I am amazed at how effective it was with only one level of skill and with only level 3 of weaponry. I used 2 +5% damage mods, I can only imagine what would happen with a proto suit, with a proto laser and tripple +10 mods....
If you camp a pipe and go 22-0, don't delude yourself, anyone half decent can do it.
I use 60 bullet ARs exclusively on my main account and do a pretty decent job with them. That I do cause I'm awsome, obviously, and because I put nearly all my skills into sharpshooter, recoil dampening, reload speed and damage buffs. If I were to use the same amount of skillpoints on my AR as I did with this laser, I wouldn't be competitive at a. dude the reason we laser rifle users get so many kills is ppl are to ignorant to how they work and run full speed to us at optimal. No tactics, they deserve to die.

So please tell us again how you championed the defense of tac rifles because its pretty much the same thing with 100% accuray and more ammo. I use the laser and call bullshit on this |

Not to mention lasers don't go up in damage. So as dropsuits start to fight with higher hp, lasers will not gain a damage boost. It's role becomes weaker as heavies gain more and more armor over shields, which the weapon counters. It deals 125% damage to shields. 75% to armor. I think if anything they could bring it's damage to armor down to 50%. But it should always tear a shield to pieces. Shield tanks run in fear. Unless you have a shotgun, then your dead.
You switch to a smg or pistol at close range problem solved. All weapons have optimal range and fall off range so thats not an excuse. Anyone who is being honest will tell you lasers are broken and as a laser fanboi I can say at much. I love them but they are broken |

You are speaking to 2 totally different things here. First lasers are broken and there isn't any reason to rehash that.
The other point is that when we say stuff is broken we never hear about it till ccp says "they fixed it" in patch notes. They would never really dicuss it with us or ask us for solutions or throw stuff at us about idea to fix it. Nope they just hammer it as they see fit. Which is their problem and sadly, not a damn thing we can do about it. Trust me about every thing they have nerfed need to be tweeked but not the the extreme they do things.
Summary: laser is broken and CCP will probably nerf it to make it worthless |

The TAC AR had more range, better rate of fire then normal AR's and it got abused by modded controller users. Now shut up or im going to post every day about grenades until they get nerfed. Cause thats the only thing that you are good at. Oh and you was sitting on the pipes to keep optimal range how about you get up close and then shot at somebody. Good, I've been asking for a nade nerf since the start of this build. I've written two threads and posted in several others. And really? The only thing I'm good at? I get more love from the fu..ing Imperfects than I get from you, despite performing among the top 10 in SI. A little respect please. You think that camping a pipe with an OP laser makes you god at it? LOL. Edit: And why would I ever go up close with a laser?
I wouldn't say love, but if you bring up a point for discussion that has solid support I am going to evaluate it on its merits not the tag next to your name. I feel lasers are broken but don't feel they need a nerf. A tweek to the mechanics would do really wonders though.
To many in this community prefer to trash the other player instead of actually engage in discussion on stuff. I should know i do it all the time, but mainly to people that have really bad ideas. Well, because frankly they deserve it. |

And a brief report from day 2 with a laser. Its still dominating in most games and still extremely effective with roughly a measly 12.5 K skillpoints invested.
I tried several times to fire it from a full clip to the point where it overheats. The lowest number I got was 9. A little strange that it varies but there it is.
I will concur +1. Very well thoughtout post.
one thing would add regarding heat build up. If you use damage mods you should over heat faster. Adding in a bit of give and take. My reseaoning is that since laser is normally a at range fit everyone uses damage mods by default. There isn't a gank vs tank decision when its always gank/damage mod fits for lasers (If you are not using damage mods on lasers, you are doing it wrong)
again look at mechanics ccp please dont nerf hammer it. |
