kind of disappointed in sniping I love to snipe in most games. But here it is just find a rock hide behind it so i can hit you but you can not hit me and then let the red glow on the screen. it is so easy and takes no skill to find people because they light up red soon as they are in scope view. |

You think it's great to glitch like that? That you can be sniped from behind a rock but unable to hit back because said rock is standing between you and the person sniping you? |

I've seen it in action but never figured out how it works... Kinda glad I don't know how to do it because I hope it gets fixed. I'm not too good of a sniper, but counter-sniping is just all too easy when most the snipers have zero situational awareness. |

I think the arrows are crap myself also. The headglitching is horrible like I move see the sniper shoot 5 times in the head and then I am dead. :/
Also the red arrows are crap. It takes the challenge away from sniping. I feel there is no reason to be a mobile sniper in this game. It is about finding that perfect headglitching rock. and sitting. There is no reason to move because the enemy sniper is just going to spot you instantly because the game puts a big red arrow over your head. Call of duty is a great example I can shoot 2-3 people move to my next location shoot a couple more. Same with BF3 you actually need your redicule dead on the guy before he lights up. Here you swing your scope across the map and you have a christmas tree.
I could see if they where withing 50m maybe even 100m but anything pass that you should have to hold scope on said object for second before it lights up. Just way to easy to light things up does not make strategic sniping as important when it is so easy for you light up other snipers. |

Just way to easy to light things up does not make strategic sniping as important when it is so easy for you light up other snipers. Agreed. It doesn't help much that most other snipers have no clue what they're doing, sit in the hills and take crap shots. Lead the target. Don't shoot HAVs because they will fire on you, bringing more attention to your position. If another sniper saw you, took a shot and missed, find another spot because you will die as soon as you pop back over that hill. Sniping effectively is an art, but its just as much about proper comms usage and calling out potential threats as it is suppressing enemy forces around an objective. Can't do that too well if you're parked under an MCC. You are the eye in the sky. Train scan radius and dampening. Your rifle sway stops being a problem (not entirely... don't misread this) after level three proficiency if that...
Now, how many do you think a team needs? Not everyone can be a lone gunman. Even a sniper shouldn't think that way. Objective based gameplay and a team of fourteen snipers and two people actually taking objectives doesn't work. Have a back up plan.
My two cents on the majority of snipers I play against or with... |

Skill up drop suit command (among other skills) to lower scan profile and it lowers the chance of the red chevron appearing. |

or it means an ally spotted you.
i think thats what a lot of people miss. If me and johnny McPopupdummy are going different directions and johnny comes around a corner and spots a guy in ambush waiting for me. I haven't spotted/detected Mister reddot, but johnny's Tacnet, being ever so helpful, paints Mister reddot for me. So instead of getting blindsided I drop a proper greeting card: grenade around the corner and a AR burst to the face.
it's really that simple. if an enemy can see you, you get marked for his whole team. |

I have come up with a technique I think of as scalping. If the other guy can see you, you can always hit the scalp of his by shooting half a pixel over his head in the air hitbox. Usually snipers sit in spots where they can see you. |

Concerning the red chevron.... I am guessing the OP is new to the game, so I will explain.
As your character progress you will find that skills will unlock and then be trained to hide your giant red 'here I am, please kill me' chevron.
Try levelling up; Dropsuit Command, Sensor Upgrades, Profile Dampening and Scan Precision as these will go far to to making you more difficult to find.
And as a parting shot, the snipers on Line Harvest (the ones who are at the north end, up the mountain) are impossible to kill. A severe glitch which should be addressed. |

Thank you!
There are also these wonderful modules called PROFILE DAMPENERS that are designed to make you harder to scan down. Smart snipers use them.
Also, the solution to the "he's behind a rock and I can't hit him" problem is to MOVE.
Your gun is telling you that you're in the right ballpark with the red dot, but in case you haven't noticed, the red dot will appear even through buildings. Just because you see a red dot doesn't mean you're actually going to hit.
How do I know this? Because I spent the time to figure it out the hard way. I dumped about ten shots into a red dot on a guy behind the redline before I realized that I was shooting A BUILDING. He was in a corridor between two buildings, but I was seeing his chevron because someone on my team could scan him.
That's another point- if anyone on your team can scan someone, he shows up for you, too. That's why random red chevrons keep appearing and disappearing throughout a match. |

The use for that red dot is to: 1) provide a fast scan of targets and aim through fog 2) scan through obstacles, allowing "impossible reaction" shots on people swinging around corners
The primary aim method is pixels. If you want to hunt snipers, always check the pixels instead of the red dots. Signature is quite irrevelant in most cases, and there are much better uses for the slots than sig mods. |

I endorse this message :) But I actually do use dampeners, just trying them out really, not quite sure how effective they are. |

Seeying I can snipe ton of people without getting shot back very often prove to me the dampners do work. |

You can get the snipers that use the head glitch in the Line Harvest peak by counter sniping them from the hills right behind the Objective C. Another option is to the hills between A and C and climb the mountain there and counter snipe them. You will have to run into the red zone for about 5 seconds. |

I'm not sure about how snipers themselves play, but it seems to me that most of them are just a nuisance. If you know which direction they're in, you can easily avoid them. However, if they're a good sniper, have good tactics and good aim, you're going down regardless of your circumstances.
Granted, if you're running a lower tier suit or something, that nuisance might just get a lucky shot off and one hit kill you... |
