Logic, glorious logic! "angelic chorus plays in the background".
To be fair, the grenades, forge guns, and the like can be a right pain in the kittens (I love that word).
Now that I think about, ALL of those weapons and such can be a pain in their own right, you just need to figure out how to best deal with each of them. (WARNING: Essay length post incoming, just so you know) :D
What should you do if you find someone who you know will spam grenades like its going out of style?
For starters, try flanking his potato masher loving buttocks when you are able. If you can't do that, then see if you can pick him off from a distance while keeping an eye out for that grenade indicator. The MOMENT you see that indicator appear, run away from it like you were Sonic the blasted Hedgehog! Better still, if you have a sniper on your team (preferably in your squad for communication's sake), tell him where that sucker is so that he can do the job for you.
AV grenades: If its near your tank, move away from it when you can to lower the damage if possible. If its UNDER your tank, then I don't know what to tell you other than leaving the vehicle asap. Looking for that indicator will help in both cases.
Lasers: These nasty pieces of Amarrian tech have quite the range to them, not to the level snipers mind you, but they are still pretty vicious at mid to long ranges. My advice to you folks is to either flank them when possible or snipe their heads off, since the sniper rifles should have more range then they do (going by common sense here, so correct me if I am wrong).
ARs: These guns are essentially the all-arounders that are meant to be useful for most infantry firefights, usually from close to mid-range if memory serves. From my experience, a combination of good aim and quick reactions will serve you well, as even having the best AR in New Eden won't do you any good if your aim is poor or your reaction time is slow.
Pistols: Basically the same advice as above applies for the most part, but do take note of the scrambler's shield damaging ability, as well as its tendency to scramble heads (mind the bad pun).
Mass Drivers: They are, from my understanding,a straight shot to whatever they are aimed at, including infantry. My best advice: Strafe, flank, and pray that the guy using an MD is not good at leaning their shots.
Tanks: Big, mean, heavily armed, and heavily armored/shielded. Avoid contact with one unless you have AVs or Mass Drivers and you know that you can take one out and live! If you see an enemy tank from a distance, regardless of your build, call it our to your teammates in any way you can, so that someone will try to take it out, even if you don't.
HMGs: Cover is your best friend for life, use it to flank the Heavy Weapons Guy wannabe or sniper their face off if you can.
SMG: Its been nerffed to heck, but it can be useful in close range when flanking tactics are used effectively (again, correct me if I am wrong).
OB: Powerful as all kittens, but it gives out a clear visual and audible warning prior to its attack, so be sure to run away when you see the pre-ob light show.
Swarm Launcher: Also nerfed, but I can see it being useful as a secondary AV weapon, especially when combined with forge guns and the like.
Forge Guns: Tank drivers should fear this thing, as its designed for Anti-Armor. If you spot a FG user, take him out fast before they can cause a rage-filled Youtube comment's worth of pain. Infantry are best suited for this, as they can flank and sneak up on the FG user and pepper him with bullets before they can fire a shot if they are quick enough.
For the sake of every Dust Bunny getting some good advice from this thread, please correct me on any bit of what I have just said. Preferably through the use of facts, because those work very well when it comes to showing how to deal with weapon types during a match.
Sorry if I made a double post, quick replay hates me. Also I did write this before the sniper range needing a buff was mentioned. If they need a buff, then so be it. If not, then its all good. :) |

We seriously need some kind of Dust Manual that describes valid tactics and strategies for every weapon, vehicle, and gear in the game, including the maps and gamemodes. It has to be detailed and well organized, as well as easy enough for any fps gamer to read and gain some knowledge from it.
Do it, I say! DO IT! :D |
