Is the weapon drift the "recoil" that was added to assault rifles? They have been playing around with sway and drift with sniper rifles forever.
"Recoil" was added in so that assault rifles would need more skill, both the player's physical aiming and shooting skill, and SP invested to access better models of guns, to rack up kills. Or to provide a better gun feel to assault weapons. SOmething like that.
Before the "recoil" you could basically just hold down the trigger on any assault rifle until the clip emptied and move around some trying to get on target.
Now you have to aim first then pull trigger much more often. The "recoil" could use some refinement but it is a good thing to have lower tier and super cheap weapons less effective than their costly counter parts. Militia gear is basically low cost generic bulk bin stuff. That those guns don't work as well as the pricey rifle has nothing to do with whether the game is an FPS or a MMORPG. That is just kind of how stuff that people make works.

Before you say they aren't try going more than 4 games without hearing one of their squeaky voices yelling moronically on the mic. The answer is because they are morons and don't know any better. I always find it funny when people compare this game to Halo, it shows their complete inexperience with not only FPS but gaming in general. Comparing Dust or any good shooter in the past 20 years to Halo is like comparing Go-fish to Poker. Seriously if FPS was a family Halo would be the mentally disabled cousin. The recoil in this game sure if pretty rough without skills but it's not bad. I suggest ya go play some real FPS so ya can get a proper frame of reference and see what a real shooter is like, not that cotton candy fluff noob playground that is the Halo series. Halo and CoD are mostly mainstream ones yes. The better FPS games are Battlefield 3 (at times), Killzone 2 (3 sometimes), and some other ones. Blacklight Retribution and Planetside 2 are also good PC alternatives. I agree, however I've seen some good FPS go the way of the dodo for that same reason; exemple: I loved section 8... many people hated it because it took quite a bit of hit to the body or about 2-3 headshots to kill someone because of armour. I loved that game so much and I could not believe that was the main reason people hated it. But it seems the majority of gamers are just too used to COD mechanics... sad really; but it worries me most if it has the potential to endanger a good game, which I truely TRUELY hope will not happen to Dust.
Really agree with you there. Even though I am not the best shot, and find COD to be entertaining multiplayer, do not want to ever be able to take down an enemy clone with one shot to the ankle in DUST 514 while running wildy across the map, gun pointed at the ground, spraying madly at every merc with a red flag above their head. |
