Most of us know what proximity voice is. Alot of people hate it because it turns out into flame wars while playing the game and others love it for the immersive experience it can create.
For those who don't know, proximity voice is when you are able to hear nearby teammates/enemies' voice communication discussions up to a certain range.

Now I came up with a little idea that makes proximity voice a little more than just talking trash to enemy teams or teammates. Since the game itself does not have commands that you can use to call for ammo or repairs from other teammates which you might not have in your squad and they might not be on team chat, it would help alot with this one and would completely strip the need to come up with ingame commands for such thing. And not only that, it would add more effectiveness to scouts. Not the people that are running with a scout suit, but people that do like to scout and general surveillance on the enemy team, creating a much deeper strategic feel into the game itself.

 Here's what I think.

 Skills/Modules/Equipment
Skill/Module: Communication Radius. Unlocks the abillity to equip a module that increases the radius you can hear your team/enemies' voice communications range(they don't hear you though) by a certain percentage. This shouldn't affect squad chat radius.

Skill/Module: Communication Jamming. Unlocks the abillity to use a module that creates interference on nearby enemies that can listen to your communications when activated/equiped which covers your nearby allies aswell.

Skill/Equipment: Surveillance (nameofitemgoeshere). Unlocks the abillity to equip a deployable equipment that allows you to eavesdrop ongoing communications within its certain radius. Should be destroyable of course.

There could be some flaws in it, so please do discuss and post ideas.

Might not be worth it depending on the slot for the mods and the SP multiplier for the skill. Imagine a scout fully spec'd into low scan profile who runs to a forward letter, gets on a roof near the letter, and just sits there listening in and relaying information for his team.

I think the very first thing CCP needs to do is, make the voice mod, a none daily thing, and just add it in. I mean come on these are suits that are highly advanced, we can jump out of an MCC and use inertia dampeners to protect from impact damage, shields for personal protection, but no comm. system built in for FREE. I can understand them not doing this way to prevent lag and mic issues that curse other FPS's, but still, CCP can make the most life like avatarsGÇÖ in EVE but can't give us a comm. system that work forever instead of days.

I would like the idea only off you could "hack" the enemy's com system from close range with the equipment. I would not like to hear the enemy if I was close to them without the item as some people's voices are horrible.

Also I imagine that if you where close to a dust person you would not hear them talk because the suit covers them completely like a space suit. They talk into a com system.

Would be really cool to mix with cloaking.

I see where you're coming from but I'm guessing that most planets already have eco-systems, thus the wind, water or lava that will be there on future planets.

I'm pretty sure some teams would end up using an outside software to chat.... Which wouldnt be fair.
I'd rather see a working enemy detection system first **Looks at the active scanner Fail**

Our guys were talking about something like this last night. I would love to have proxy chat in this game. I think it would add tons to the experience and solve a lot of problems.

These ideas are cool, but I agree with others that are saying that if you compromise the voice coms system too much with in game hacking etc. players will use other com methods instead to be competitive.

it was discussed a few builds ago, the community is very split over it - I'm for personally.

I would like to add that audio feedback must be distinguishable.

when I last mentioned this - I said that the "voice masking" (lower tone) should be used for enemy proxy - so your team can be distinguished but the enemy sounds like a hacked frequency.

this is one of those scenarios where you can only please everyone by making it as dynamic as possible

The ability to have these setting options will let people go as far down the rabbit hole as they want (enable transmit all for pub matches, switch it to team/off for competitive play, and everything in between).

I would have it ALL/ALL in every match except critical corp matches. But that's just me. I really don't want the hassle of TS3 for a console game.

That sounds nice man but everyone would just have the recieve on and transmit on off except for team. Making something that turns on both transmit and recieve and makes it the same settings would work better in my opinion. I like the idea of having to shut up when I'm trying to get behind enemies, adds much more of an immersive experience.

What, I mean is that if you choose to not let the enemy hear your coms they will still hear something rather than if you have proxy transmit set to off to the enemy it doesn't transmit anything to the other team at all. Just add a little bit the immersion that comes from proxy chat even if people choose to not compromise their coms. Plus I think distorted and garbled laughter over a fallen enemy could still be pretty taunting.

Screw your immersion if it means no one uses in-game comms. Forcing people to play your way will just make them leave, not adapt.

 Revised Proxy Menu:
 Team: ON/PTT/OFF
 Enemy: ON/PTT/OFF

PTT can only transmit and receive while D-Left is held down. Team: ON/ Enemy: PTT would be 99% secure and allow smack talk.

Grrr.... I keep wanting to add immersion features as well, but the logic here is sound. If a proxy system forces you to compromise your coms or give you a disadvantage it will not be used and result in a net loss to the game since time would be spent to implement an unused feature.

I like the PTT idea, which can now be dubbed Push to Trash Talk.

Someway to hack an enemies TACNET by hacking a dead bodies' dropsuit would be nice... But I really don't like the idea of people being able to do it all the time. I think if it does get implemented, it is a specialized class, like a hacker or such.

When MCC Commanders get implemented ingame, it will be so important to get all the intel you can.
