When DUST goes live it NEEDS a Sp wipe, and the sp system needs to be made viable for people who A: dont play every day(roll over is a fix) and B: people who start a month or 2 into developpment(a DUST wide roll over would make it possible but not easy to catch up) This is my feeling too,and I have been wondering if CCP is totally clueless of this, but then I just started thinking, why would CCP not reset? What is the point of it? Then it just hit me. CCP is banking on that those noobs that are getting abused by vets will like the game so much ,yet hate that they are so far behind, that they are going to start spending money on AUR in an effort to catch up or at least stand on equal footing with the vets.If this is what CCP is banking on,it will surely blow up in their faces,as most console gamers would rather move on to another game, than spend money on what is advertised as a Free To Play game in order to compete with people that are going to be handed a clear advantage from the start. Whatever CCP says,I'm still not convinced that they aren't going to do a reset for launch.I just don't see how they figure that this is going to go over well with the new players that they are trying to attract to the game. You have a point but I believe its confirmed that there will be no more resets, CCP is telling us this is a head start so why would they be like "oh sorry I know we said we gave you a head start but uh...wipe" I mean sure the free points. But it wouldent feel like a head start...besides we JUST had a wipe...people will be raging like no tommorow on the fourms I promise you Im Just carious How is any different from a noob when the game is out and rage quitting because he keeps dieing? I is like me joining COD and raging and such because I keep die from lack of skills. I just don't see any different than seeing someone joining for OB with people with all the skills, than joining when the game has been out for 3 months. The difference is that the ceiling on your character skill level is much higher in Dust than any other shooter probably ever. For instance,in MAG,if you started one month after everyone else, you would hit level 60 a little bit later, but you would still top out like everyone else eventually does, then it all comes down to player skill, and not the skill level of your character. Casual players that join Dust 2 to 3 months in,won't have a chance in hell, unless they are playing similar opponents, which may,or may not be in as much of abundance as CCP would hope for.
Yes and no. I.e. if you have 2M SP in AR versus my new toon then I get instakilled for about two months or so until I also have an equivalent amount of SP then its down to who sees who first.
And some newbs like payback way too much to the point where I can see a lot of newbs just hanging around to payback kill the Dust vets.
My first day when I got the invite from CCP (long, long ago) I went 22 deaths and zero kills then when I was skilled up I went Dust Vet hunting in that long ago build.....lol!
And after this recent wipe?? Its all good.
Newbs who stick around will hunt vets.
Thus it was in COD, Halo, MAG and so it is and will be in Dust.

And there's the key right there. How many of these noobs do you honestly think will stick around for that long? Personally,I would like to think that people would stick it out,but like I've said in other threads, most gamers are stupid these days, and don't have a very long attention span. Imo,and I really hope I'm wrong about this, the playerbase for Dust will never reach the numbers that is needed to make this game the most epic game ever.Without that high install base of gamers,it's going to be virtually impossible to do what EVE does,in that it's playerbase has grown every year.
There will be noobs seeing passive SP gain and deciding to wait a few weeks until it builds up. The game of Dust 514 is free and thats an easy sell when money is tight or in the months that high profile FPS game releases are few.
I can also imagine some folks deciding on saveing sixty dollars and instead playing something thats free. 70 million PS3 consoles??
I have several AAA games right now but I still play Dust since I like the RPG skills system that reminds me of Mag and to some extents Fallout.
Later..... since its time for some Dust 514 playtime.
