There should definitely be SOME way to reliably get more than 4 players into a match. It's more fun when you can actually coordinate with your team as opposed to a 4th of your team.
There should also be a game mode or playlist where that is NOT possible, so people don't just farm newbies until they quit like we all know they will; because we've seen them do it whenever possible. (who remembers tanks parked on top of buildings firing large missile turrets into the defending teams spawn? yah... that **** happened.)
this could be any number of things, a simple copy/paste of CoD mercenary playlists, introduction of PvE, X skillpoints or less playlists, or simply making high end gear WAY to expensive to be used in low reward game modes.
also: nobody is going to like this idea, but i think you should always lose what you use. if you spawn it into the match, you're not getting it back. suits, dropships, tanks, whatever. It's serious punishment for someone trying to learn to fly a dropship (all the more reason to get corp training rooms in game) but it's also the only way to give the market real teeth. We've all had huge games in our proto gear, especially after CCP releases a new batch of beta keys. No matter how expensive your gear is, it doesn't cost anything if you never die. |

you wanna know how i was able to run all proto and still gain money last build? because i hardly died
that's the point though...
you SHOULDN'T be able to pay for prototype gear in the newbie playlists. but regardless of how poorly the newbie playlist pays, you CAN afford to use ANYTHING in there if you never lose it, which is a threshold many of us hit many times.
example: i lost one marauder EVER. how expensive does that have to be to justify all the 30+/0 games i got out of it as i godzilla stomped my way through ragequitting newbies?
Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying high end gear should be an AUTOMATIC net loss in isk, just make some playlists/modes/contracts pay dramatically more than others. if the high end contract pays well enough then we can still play with all our best stuff and turn a profit if we're good at the game, but if we wanna beat up infants to make ourselves feel strong why should we ALSO be rewarded with the big cash money wad for it? |
